I'd like to see a mod so that price, maintenance, and labour costs of ships can be set at the start of the game then, so it can be a large scale war.
As with all my mods, I have no problems with other people "stealing", making changes, and posting them up. So if you feel up to the challenge have at it.
I have never felt that I somehow owned the intellectual rights of what equates to adjusting a few text files..
There's also a matter of increased micromanagement. You may want to consider letting flagships form fleets with each other.
The AI will likely be unable to build "new" designs as the "build random design" button is broken due to these changes. I'm sure it will continue to "Size Up" existing designs tho, as is its common practice.
Also.. these changes lend a whole "new" design shift in how capitals are made. I designed a ship that was nothing but about 12 flying rocket launchers with just enough command, engines, etc to move them.. needless to say it wrecked everything with no supports in the way. lol.
For this to be a truly "good idea" for a mod, a lot more then 40 minutes worth of work needs to be put into it.
Anyway, did you check the ancient shipwreck, the one that can give you an Ixion if you're lucky? Sometimes it just spawns a group of Heavy Gunships.
That being said, without anyone to control them, support ships will act like turrets before expiring. (If they aren't from the abovementioned anomaly.)
