Description
*Unfortunately, Keen has hard nerfed this style of weapon. Reaper missiles relied on ore (like stone) being able to do damage through collisions. Now, ore harmlessly bounces off of armor - regardless of how large the stack, or the momentum of the projectile. Unless Keen decides to undo this change, this weapon is dead.*


Description

Introducing my first release: the Reaper Missile! Affectionately known as “The Magnum,” the Reaper provides maximum disabling potential in a relatively small package. A gravity-based, shrapnel-loaded kinetic missile, the Reaper is capable of crippling even the largest of ships in a single blow!

The Reaper is a fully remote controlled missile with four front-facing, side-mounted cameras, guaranteeing that you'll never have to fly in blind. Propelled by 8 spherical gravity generators and 12 artificial mass blocks, the Reaper is capable of accelerating to top speed in 2.3 seconds. While it has no reverse thrust, it does have limited maneuvering thrusters, allowing you to readily cherry-pick your targets.

Upon impact, the 24 cargo containers mounted in the warhead break apart, ejecting approximately 240 rocks into the target. The gravity generators that were previously used for movement now act as a mass driver, propelling the rocks further into the target. Additionally, the mass blocks that were used for propulsion are destroyed upon impact, bringing the missile to a quick stop, allowing the rocks and gravity generators to do their work!

Capable of penetrating over 100 layers of heavy armor, the Reaper causes massive damage up to 60 layers deep and up to 40 layers wide. Due to its shrapnel-based nature, it may not (or just might!) completely vaporize a target vessel, but it will bring it to a limp. All that's left is putting the target out of its misery and salvaging what's left! Omnomnom!

Notes
  • This device is completely mod free!
  • This is a world save. If you want individual blueprints, please refer to the links section below.
  • The Reaper Missile works in vanilla, but is intended for use with 10x inventory. While it is certainly most effective this way, it can still function pretty well in 1x. Just cut the stacks of stone to 4k each, and give it a go! Tip: You can make a single cargo container with 10 stacks of 4k stone, and copy and paste it into a Reaper missile that has been stripped of its cargo containers.
  • This weapon is not gravity shield proof! I already have plans for a version that is, however!

@2ARM2 there likely won't be a new model since the main mechanic for this weapon has been disabled by KEEN, unless someone can make a mod that re-enables stones doing damage on impact or KEEN does that for us. These may be somewhat effective anyway though, and they look impressive.

You could use Taleden's Inventory Manager, and name the cargo containers so that TIM automatically fills the cargo containers with stone. Battery charging would be another great script, so that it doesn't let you fire until the batteries are at a minimum charge level. Also, would this missile work with the Easy Lidar Homing Script? Thanks, this is an amazing piece of weaponry.

Great to see that you are still active! You know, if you ever need some ships to test your missiles against I have a couple that I would love to see how they handle :)
