Amphion - Diatom - Waystation

Description
Amphion presents the Diatom, a solar-dependent waystation that's inexpensive and easy to manufacture from a blueprint. Great for semi-permanent installations near rich ore deposits on asteroids. It's outfitted with two cockpits that function as means to replenish air for nearby crewmen (if you're down on your luck and don't have a ship). Its counterpart, the Rotifer is meant for sunless environments.

Primary Features
-Easy and inexpensive to build
-Good storage for a semi-permanent installation
-Can provide power for recharging ships indefinitely.
-Functions as a communications extender and a remote-control operation station

Thanks for the heads-up! I appreciate that you enjoyed it!

Hi, Slumberjack! I encountered the Diatom early in an Exploration Enhancement Mod game and used it as base. After that, I was inspired to create my own version. I credited this on the page.

These are pre-hydrogen, but at some point I could update them if there's a demand for it.

Really well done, I didn't know how i felt about the open glass at first but the more time i spent on the station the more i loved it. Thank you for only using one antenna, etc and not going overboard.

I would probably add a Gyro, (i was suprised it didn't have one along with the cockpits to relign itself with the sun).

You balanced the station very well, If i were to do it i would probably try and squeeze a oxygen generator in the station, delete the bottom connector and add a Hydrogen tank.

-Thanks

Another cool build, I like just making these near asteroid clusters, not to mine, but for salvage because other people like to fight over them, and I'm not nearly armed enough to defend the area, the best I can do is have this out of the firing range, and go in and salvage along with the winning faction for supplies, usually keeping to the loser's ships.
