SimCity 3000 News: News Ticker 3K

Description
The SimCity 3000 News Ticker in Cities: Skylines!

BUT BEFORE WE BEGIN (yes I'm shouting) THERE'S A WARNING LATER IN THIS TEXT THAT YOU MUST READ...

Do you miss the good old SimCity 3000 News Ticker and its weird sense of humor?

Is the Kitty Kibble Shortage real?
Know everything about brocoli!
Some advice from Tommy B. Saif...

...and much more...

This mod adds SC3K's funny news to Chirper's messages, about one every minute.
The news are the same as in SC3K but the word "Sim" has been replaced with "Cim" which is the name of the citizens in Cities:Skylines (except in some places, were it made more sense to keep it).
A few corrections (updates... two easter eggs for the publisher and the community) have been made.

WARNING!!! YOU HAVE TO READ THIS! YES IT'S YOU I'M TALKING TO !!

If you want to uninstall this mod you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO close all chirper messages before saving, or you won't be able to re-open the saved city unless you reinstall the mod. (But you will never uninstall it, it's just too awesome).

You can disable the mod, only uninstalling it causes this. (This is due to the fact that the game keeps track of the last chirper messages in a save. If the mod is uninstalled it'll try to open them but won't be able to and it will block you).

This mod is based on an already existing SC3K Ticker mod :

Many thanks to its author.

(his and mine have few differences, like the names correction and the faster pace of the news... and two little bugs I discovered in his ;) )

Well... Now I've got to search more info about this Kitty Kibble Shortage... Bye !

Hi I really love to be bombarded by loads of news however my game crashed with it so may it be debugged and maintained still for the long time future?

You mentioned spam, are you talking about the chirper or FGRWorks below who had a month long convo with themselves?

This spams way to often. Please give us an option to how many or few we can have.

Finally I got rid of this mod - somehow by a stroke of luck. For reasons I didn't know the mod one day stopped pushing messages (as I said below, the mod can push messages even after being disabled in Content Manager), so I cleared all the messages (pushed by the game), saved the game, uninstalled this mod, and I successfully reload my save without it.

I really don't know what happened. Perhaps I uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times. Perhaps I installed new mods like Tree Fire Control, No Building Fire. I don't guarantee anything.

TO EVERYONE SEEING THIS MOD - Simply:
1. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE it.
2. Subscribe it if you need it to open a savegame (e.g. a save from workshop "infected" by this mod) but DO NOT ENABLE it in Content Manager (check Content Manager before opening the save!)

I suggest two quick solutions to this problem:
1. add an option in the 'Option' menu for the player to turn off the mod
2. adjust the frequency of the pushing of messages, either make it longer (e.g. one message every 2 or 5 min) or, if you like, add an option in the 'Option menu' for the player to adjust the frequency.
Both solutions aim to create a window where a player can truly clear all pushed messages and save, and then load the save again with the mod uninstalled without causing error

You know what? Even after I disabled the mod in Content Manager, I can still see messages pushed by this mod every time I load a save. Perhaps this is the very reason I can't get rid of it without breaking my safe!

A problem with this mod is that it has way too many messages and they are pushed up too frequently. In my experience, even if I cleared all the messages and immediately saved the game, I still could not open my savegame without this mod installed. Looks like once you have cleared all the messages you just don't have enough time to save a game without new messages pushed by this mod.

Just consider this mod as a kind of virus - once you have contracted it, you won't be able to get rid of it. If you open a new game of a savegame with this mod ON (by content manager), your savegame will be "infected", and you will never be able to uninstall this mod without breaking your savegame. So, the solution is keep it but without activating it (making it ON in content manager), so as to save your savegames which has been "infected" while preventing the mod from "infecting" you other new games or savegames not previously "infected"
