Moonshadow Class Destroyer (WIP)

Description
Getting impatient today, so decided to post this ship before finishing it. Started some of the CP programming; then realised numerous blocks had to be removed and replaced as the paint was being applied, so the CP settings were being lost anyways. The paint is unfinished, but currently the primary project. Next would be CP programming, then stocking ammunition and materials.

The ship is designed for usage of assemblers to manufacture ammo as needed. Even with all four boosted assemblers, it is not expected to be able to sustain combat for extended periods. While possibly being able to support the turrets, the ammo factory is very unlikely to support extended use of the fore assault launcher system; consisting of eight (8) large ship rocket launchers. Six (6) Gatling Turrets, Six (6) Missile Turrets, and Four (4) Interior Turrets make up all of the Moonshadow's active defenses, while thick Heavy Armor hull and multi-layered bulkheads make up the passive defenses. The assault launcher system is primarily intended for use at 1,000m with use of the nose camera for aiming. The zoom feature on this camera makes it useful for scouting and "blind jump" plotting as well.

The ship is outfitted with a dual jump drive, as well as small reactor and battery backup power systems; supplimented by a large number of solar panels around the outer hull. As following of most BSF projects, the Moonshadow is gifted with a full package of equipment: antenna, distress beacon, med station, spot lights, docking clamps, etc.

The primary inspiration for this design was the Support Frigate "Contessa" by my favorited workshop author, StoneColdJaneAusten. While it was not a direct copy, the influence can be seen rather drasticly, and will be far more evident once a proper paint job is finished.

Comments/Suggestions are always welcome on Black Star Federation contructs. Until next time - shadowpheonix787

"More ships roll off the navy line today, as many fresh recruits join the fight. Experts say the war could end any day, so many of these fine young men and women could be home before they're even missed. So enlist today, you could be home before you know it! Would you like to know more?"

That's been the running issue. Finding the time and/or will to take it apart piece by piece and paint, then program. Now with new blocks to experiment with and explore, I was getting worried I might never get to it. Figured it was time to call in another.

I look forward to seeing how you paint it

Well, my original goal was to present it to you as a possible addition, since you have said before you don't make combat ships.

Actually if you rotate your large reactor 90° you can close off the lower stairs and use the side access to reach the reactor hatches, this should allow you to separate the reactor compartment from the main cabin.

I freely admit I'm no expert at designing combat ships, but I would suggest more compartmentalisation. The way the bridge is connected to the cabin seems like it would be very prone to being depressurised in combat. The green doors don't actually fully separate the compartment, so serve more as obstacles to quick navigation.

The easiest change you could make would be to swap out all your doors for the new sliding ones, they're fantastic. They are much easier to navigate by jetpack, and two of them back-to-back work as a completely enclosed airlock with no other sealing blocks required.
