Realistic Helicopter

Description
This model is outdated. Please see my Realistic Helicopter v3!

__________________________________________________________________

A helicopter with full cyclic, collective, and tail rotor controls.

Super fun to fly, once you get the hang of it!

No mods were needed to build this :D

If you want guns on this thing look here.

IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE FLYING!

-Arrow keys = Tilt fwd, back, left, right

-I and P = Rotate left and right (use gentle taps)

-O and L = Climb up and down (also, gentle taps)

-Right Ctrl for power

-Press 1 for cockpit camera

-Press 2 for chase camera

-Due to physics, the faster you fly forward, the more it will pull up and right.

interesting thing: for it to not pitch up with speed the swashplate should be calibrated in such a way that the blades that are moving with the direction of movement should be more neutral, and the ones that are moving against it more pitched, although personally i've failed miserably at implementing this in any way :lensmakersglasses:

it is possible to fly, i can get a hang of the controls, but need more stabilization

Oh, definitely too hard. I came back to this one after a year and was like "How did I ever fly this?"
That's why I built the V2 model :-P

Incredible design, well thought out but hard to fly it ;-)

That's great! I always enjoy "optimizing" my creations lol

just updated my 4x collective copter, found an alternative way to control collective while making the whole frame 17 blocks lighter!

ikr! flies almost like a real quadcopter (with poor PID tuning :P), i got the idea from an existing quadcopter wich is 3d/acro+ capable by having collective in every rotor.

I just tried your creation - Very cool! That's a neat idea having collective spread to 4 rotors. And it flies pretty well with a little practice :steamhappy:

awesome, that was very inspiring. also figured out collective pitch and have now built a quadcopter where every rotor has it!
