Sebidee's Christianity Buff

Description

- Updated 25.09.2024
- Save Game Compatible.

Hello everyone! This mod has been updated!

Please also check out my new mods for Warhammer 3.

This is a small campaign improving mod that increases the usefulness of christian buildings, this affects Greek, Latin and Arian christianity. This isn't for any particular religious reason but instead is historical. In this period christianity was spreading and growing despite the failing Roman Empires. However, I have often found that christianity and christian buildings are more of a hinderance than an advantage. This mod aims to change this and to simulate a growing religion.

First of all the upkeep costs of christian buildings have been removed, they will no longer drain your economy and will instead be a useful buffing building (like other religious buildings).

Secondly I have given all christian buildings a small osmosis conversion effect, this means that they will convert neighbouring provinces, although at a slower rate than they convert their own province. I believe these changes will cause christian religions to slowly spread across the map, will cause more factions to convert and will be a help to already christian factions as it was in real life.

A few months ago, I mistakenly claimed that this mod made the game unbalanced by giving the Western Roman Empire (WRE) a stronger economy than the Eastern Roman Empire (ERE). At the time, I didn’t take into account the difference in army sizes. In fact, the WRE starts with 5,700 soldiers, while the ERE has 7,240. Interestingly, despite having more troops, the ERE also has lower upkeep costs, which I believe is due to the different unit compositions between the two empires. For example, in the base game, the WRE's army upkeep is 9,860, while the ERE's is 8,861. With the mod, these numbers change slightly to 9,830 for the WRE and 8,889 for the ERE—though I’m not entirely sure why.

I just wanted to clarify that this mod actually does exactly what it's supposed to do. It doesn’t create imbalance. The WRE simply has fewer soldiers and likely more churches, which, once their upkeep is removed, gives the West a larger budget at the game's start compared to the East.

Great mod! How come the max level patriarchal church only has +1 osmosis, when the prerequisite has +3? Also could you make a mod that only removes the upkeep costs, and keeps all benefits vanilla? Thank you!
