Introduction
Home Improvisation has always been about creating your own unique furniture, and now we're happy to allow you to share your creations with others. This guide details the interface for creating and replacing items, as well as how to access items you've subscribed to and items you have created.
Creating an Item
To create an item and publish it to the Steam Workshop, please follow these steps:
  1. Create a piece of furniture that you wish to publish to the Steam Workshop. This must be more complicated than a single piece from an existing set.
  2. Select the piece with your cursor.
  3. Open the menu (X on controllers and MMB on the mouse).
  4. Select "Create Item" from the menu
  5. Enter a name or use a randomly generated name.
  6. (Optional) Select your object and rotate it to the desired position (this will be how it appears in the preview image).
  7. Select "Create". After the item is uploaded to the workshop, gameplay resumes.
Replacing an Item
The procedure for replacing an item is identical to that of creating an item, with the following exceptions.
  • Select the "Replace Item" option from the menu (instead of the "Create Item" option).
  • In the window that appears, choose the furniture you wish to replace by selecting "Choose" underneath that item.
  • You cannot alter the name of the item you are replacing.
Accessing Subscribed Items
Any items you subscribe to via Steam's Workshop interface will be downloaded and made available in the game (a restart may be required if the game was open when the subscription took place). To access these items, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Radial menu (X button on controllers and RMB on the mouse).
  2. Select the Catalog option.
  3. Select the Steam icon from the tabs above the catalog (this opens a new interface).
  4. You can send any subscribed item into the current room by selecting "Send" under that item.
Accessing My Items
To access items you have created and uploaded to the Steam Workshop, follow the procedure to access the Subscribed items and open the tab named "My Items" in the same interface.
