CP_Orange_X3_fuS

Description
Yet another cp_orange_x3 variation.
But rebuilding it from scratch made me learn and use the basics of the hammer-editor.

Changes to the original (see Screenshots)
- barriers on the side of the tower + pillars for the doorways to cut sniper's range in half
- two more openings at tower's first stage for more accessability
- a covered plank on each team's first cp + one cover next to it for less stalemates
on this very last corner
- slightly extended blu's lifted ground in front of tower
- more scattered ammo/health-packs

These few tweaks are intended to change the orange spirit in the least amount possible.
Therefor I kept the same textures and used glass to keep it as open and simple as you know it.

Optimization went as far as I understand it to this point: a few visleaf-tweaks, no HDR yet.
It features the basic good stuff (enemy spawnroom blocked, instant loadout-change, 32 players..)

I uploaded it because it's my very first functioning result.
If this finds anyone actually using it, feel free to post a server-ip.
Feedback is welcome and changes will be made if there is any interest for it.
The map was only playtested with bots, so bug-reports or any of a kind are welcome too.

Credit to the TF2maps-Community[tf2maps.net] for helping me getting started.
They are in no way responsible for the map I chose though. Blame me instead. ;)

~ Workshop maps are downloaded into this folder: Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/440.
To load it ingame, drop the file here: Steam/steamapps/common/TeamFortress2/tf/maps ~

Question - did you nerf the 2-4 sniper battles?
Clinton 11 Aug, 2015 @ 12:15am
ive fixed it by joining a server using that map, which downloaded it
thanks any way

@sample text
If you want to play the map for yourself, you can either create a local server in the mein menu and choose the map there. Or by console - as you seem to know.
( just in case )
In any case you need to have the map of course. It should be located in your map folder.
(steam/steamapps/common/TeamFortress2/tf/maps)
The current file name is "cp_orange_x3_fuS_b2.bsp"

The download itself did work for friends of mine and i guess for anyone else who downloaded it so far. If it still doesn't work for you, I actually don't know why this could be.
I can only imagine that steam downloads workshop-maps in the wrong folder for you..
Try to unsubscribe/subscribe to redownload the map. In case it still isn't available ingame,
try to locate it in the map folder or by searching the file on your hard drive.

@Blue Flame
As stated before: My goal was to learn about the hammer editor and only add some tweaks.

There are plenty of other variations which are less similar to the original
and add more cover, height or even underground areas to the layout.
This one just extends the lines of what is already there and keeps the same wallpapers
for the Orange-fanatics who call _x3 their living room.
I hope my tweaks make some changes to the map dynamics, see intentions in description.
The map is optimized to be able to jump across the playble area without being blocked.

I don't think I will touch Orange again anytime soon, just started my first own layout.
Thx for the feedback though.

I'm fine with cp_orange maps, but a lot of them are extremely similar and don't really innovate in any major way. Maybe you could add an underground area with entrances at spawn and a few other places like mid. The one thing I can say about orange maps is that they are way too flat and empty with the skybox is often times too low when you’re on top of the middle tower. I was wondering if you had any plans to change a few of the map dynamics to make it your own.

Okay thanks :)

@sampletext issues with the changelevel command shouldn't be map-related. you can choose the next map by typing: map <mapname>
@byvsen in general? go to workshop in the main menu of tf2
