X-Wing Starfighter

Description
Please read the description before subscribing:

This is Version 1.5 of the X-Wing Starfighter. It currently comes with two in-game models:
  • X-Wing with S-Foils Closed
  • X-Wing with S-Foils Open
One Color Scheme and Decal is included, "X-Wing". The colors are improved slightly over what can be seen in the Workshop image and the example .gifs.
When selecting a Color Scheme for the X-Wing, the "Secondary" section determines the color of the stripes, and the "Tertiary" section determines the color of your R2 Unit.

My intent was to create dynamic S-Foils that would open and close as the Aero sped up or slowed down. A "Swing-Wing" Aero, functionally identical to the base game's "Raiju". Unfortunately, such "moving parts" functionality is unable to be replicated by Custom Aeros.
If anyone can figure out how to get "Swing-Wing" functionality working on Custom Aeros, let me know. You will be my hero, and I will shout your name from the rooftops. Also, you'll get credits here and on the Community Guide.

The current X-Wing models are intended to be placeholders, until "Swing-Wing" functionality can be implemented for Custom Aeros. Feedback will be read, but changes and improvements may be deferred until a future '2.0' release with functional S-Foils.

It works fine for me but I was wondering if you would plan on updating this?

I would like to see the guns shooting out in all four of the wings (if that's possible).

Another creator has created this where the X-Wing actually moves its wings but it's not very accurate to how the x-wing's wings actually work. I've tried to contact him to see if he could fix it but nothing sadly.

It *has* always been my plan to do a "total conversion" for Sky Rogue. Eventually what I might do (with the right feature support) is create a version of the X-Wing that has moving S-Foils, as well as laser weaponry and possibly a modded slot. That way, you could put missiles and lasers in various slots, and get movie-accurate laser firing locations. While doing that, I'll probably port over a green single-fire laser to the TIE line of ships, to put in their top slots so that they fire lasers.

I don't know that *all* the functionality is there yet, and I don't have an estimate on when I'll get it all working and uploaded, but I'm neither dead nor done with this game yet. More is coming, eventually.

@MIC Check, to get the desired effect, I'd have to create an entirely new weapon. Aeros get one "firing position" for each slot. In the case of the top slot, or those modded Aeros that shoot a million missiles at a time, we're just making duplicates of that slot or adjusting the point of origin. I *could* duplicate and move one of them to the wingtips, but then it would fire *way* too many Gun projectiles all at once. Alternatively, one could put missiles in there and *way* too many missiles out of the laser cannons all at once. This would also inconvenience anyone trying to avoid "modded" Aeros or using "normal" loadouts, as they would now have only 3 loadout slots to use.

could you possibly tweak it so that the twin-gun fires its shots from the s-foils, rather that from below the cockpit? it's the only thing that pulls me out of the emersion.

You should ask the person behind that I-Gear how to get actual swing-wing functionality, because they've done it.

When swing-wing functionality is enabled for custom aeros like this, it should be moved to having the stats of the Kirin swing-wing fighter. Wouldn't change anything about its weapons capacity, but it would make it more like how the X-Wing is generally represented.

Just hoping that eventually, swing-wing functionality is added to custom aeros.

oh wait i see you made an A wing no need to do a retex then i gess if i can just get the plane
