Ok I fixed it myself.

All you have to do when updating this is make a copy of the existing song and change its name to

themonsterswithin_l4d1

So funny thing, it does actually work. It just doesn't work in the L4D1 campaigns, only on the L4D2 ones. It probably just wasn't configured for it and I'm sure that would be a simple update.
