Designed and produced during the Clone Wars, these vessels were expensive to maintain and fuel. Many would fall into the hands of the Rebel Alliance after being sold off to third parties. Despite their disadvantages, the Rebels found they could ill afford to turn their noses up to a steadfast, if cumbersome, warship. Rebel engineers would end up specializing many of these vessels to become fighter carriers or troop transports.
