This is a real-life accurate map, blazing in autumn colors. Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown, New York, are two historic villages first established by the Dutch in 1645 and face the Tappan Zee, a large widened part of the Hudson River, traversed by the Tappan Zee Bridge, which held the record for the world's longest bridge for some time. This map goes to the edge of Ossining and, if you dam the Bronx River, includes a little bit of White Plains, NY.

The adjoining villages are the site of much myth, legend and lore set in the Dutch and English Colonial era of the Hudson Valley, most famous as the setting for "Rip van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", a tale about Ichabod Crane's encounter with the Headless Horseman on All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween.

Sleepy Hollow holds special memories for me, as we often visited beautiful Sleepy Hollow every Halloween. The villages are not far up the Hudson River from New York City, and offer beautiful views of the Hudson Valley's pleasant terrain and Colonial-era buildings.

- You will find all transportation and resources required.
- Fall Pin Oaks by Shroomblaze and Conifer 2 by Djelle (required items) make this map possible! Thank you both!
- You can construct the Kensico Dam, which forms the Kensico Reservoir. Just be sure to keep the dam as low as possible (see purple elevation closeup map of the dam area). It is best to ensure your dam is set just below the elevation of where the train goes across
- There are enough flattened areas (flattened for game reasons) for airports and major intersections. The intersections that come with the map have been hand made on terrain sculpted for them, terrain that is just as the real life location. If you've ever driven down to the toll from the Cross Westchester Expwy, you'll feel right at home driving on this map.
- Not a difficult terrain, but one that is very pleasantly rolling, exactly like the real place.

"From the listless repose of the place, and the peculiar character of its inhabitants, who are descendants from the original Dutch settlers, this sequestered glen has long been known by name of Sleepy Hollow ... A drowsy, dreamy influence seems to hang over the land, and to pervade the very atmosphere. Some say that the place was bewitched by a high German doctor, during the early days of the settlement; others, that an old Indian chief, the prophet or wizard of his tribe, held his powwows there before the country was discovered by Master Hendrick Hudson... To pass long winter evenings, the old Dutch wives, as they sat spinning by the fire, with a row of apples roasting and spluttering along the hearth, [would spin] marvellous tales of ghosts and goblins, and haunted fields, and haunted brooks, and haunted bridges, and haunted houses, and particularly of the headless horseman, or galloping Hessian of the Hollow, as they sometimes called him"
—Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Great! I love the real place :) If you want a very small map that has the same feel and look, I made Provincetown in the Fall map. Great for building a little village :D

This is my favourite map, hands down. The rolling hills and valleys look amazing populated with an American theme and I just love the touch of creepiness the fall trees add. Thank you for sharing this beautiful map. :)

Hi radwilly1. Oh this map looks awful compared to my recent work :D The trees are by other creators, so that's how we have colored trees. If you mean how did I mix the colors well, I set the tree brush to about .15 and then clicked lightly over the same area with each color. That means that I had to go over the entire map with trees 5 or 6 times :D :D Luckily, Move It mod's copy/paste function can do a much easier job at this. This map was one of my first back in 2015 ;)

Family friends live in irvington. Come up here all the time and it's such a beautiful area. Can't believe I found it in cities skylines! Quick question - how did you paint all the trees so well

:D I know the feeling all too well.

This is gorgeous. I near here. I dare not download this map though. I like to sleep and this map will keep me occupied for hours each day. Nice job.

I love how I can revisit memories of places I've seen through life by creating them virtually in this game. No paints and canvases needed for this kind of Bob Ross happy tree painting :D

Oh yes, I was :) My mom would take us to Sleepy Hollow on a day trip every fall, and other places right around Tarrytown in summertime. It's just a beautiful place all around.
