Description
Rocinante

A planetary lander and mobile base. Outfitted with large downwards thrusters and extra reactors to power them, these can be switched on for atmospheric entry and take-off, the Rocinante has a large bay area that can be opened on three sides to deploy ground vehicles or small space craft.

The Rocinante is also equipped with a full industrial area of two refineries, and several assemblers and full oxygen generation system including solar farms. The reactor group is split two, with one set used for normal space flight operation and an extra reactor bank that can be activated to descend upon a planet.

Once ready for touch-down, a sturdy Landing Gear can be deployed, including a lift + airlock on each side to disembark on foot. A comprehensive lift and airlock system ensures a space-efficient method of accessing different decks as well as the outer hull on top.

The top level on the outer hull has defensive weaponry, as well as ample docking space outfitted with landing skids so any docked craft stays firmly into place. The top connector pylon is equipped with merge blocks to transport larger craft.

The main crew deck has the industrial area, a medical area, an operations planning zone, as well as crew quarters and accommodations. The Bridge can also be accessed from the main crew deck. All windows have blast doors that can be closed for better defense, should the need arise. Fully functional LCD's are spread around the deck to provide useful information during operations.

The bay deck has 4 fixed connectors and landing gear locks, as well as a central connector on two pistons to lower craft free of the larger vessel, or to deploy ground craft. Surrounding this central pylon is a welder array that can be lowered to repair craft or construct blueprints from one of the two projectors which can be controlled from one of the two bay control rooms (which can be accessed from the crew deck.) The large bay doors themselves are a fully functional airlock and interior access is also available by a piston lift to exit the Rocinante, or a glass lift to access the crew deck.

A perfect craft for the intrepid explorer intent on long-term operations. As a limited time promotion, the Rocinante comes with some smaller craft, a sturdy miner, a multi-functional welder/grinder and two small fighter craft.

Fully DX11, using quite a bit of mods. The vessel is still not too heavy on performance and most mods have been used for functionality, with some aesthetic addons. There might be a few mods listed here that aren't immediately used by the main craft, but are on the smaller craft.

Have a go with it and let me know what you think. All important buttons and cockpits are fully mapped, all airlocks are scripted and functional, and most LCD's are auto-scripted with relevant information for the area. All important functions are in groups or timers and the vessel is ready-to-go as-is.

When operating the central bay, take care to switch off all relevant landing gears when undocking, most smaller craft have their own landing gear locks as well.

Nearing completion on the rebuild. Main structure and details done.
Fully vanilla except one mod for longer hangar doors. Otherwise it would have become a Clang nightmare.

I'm just polishing up the button layouts, LCD's, lighting and such.

Hah! Got it up and running again. Found an old world with the ship in it, removed obsolete mods, still would load. Unloaded all mods, that worked.

But now there's only the bare bones of the ship left. I intend to rebuild it as vanilla, but in case I can't find a decent non-clang solution I might have to use one mod for the larger hangar gates that allow for the center of the ship to open.

Funnily enough I just remembered this ship and want to have a go with it but it won't spawn. Both the local version and the workshop version :(

I'm hoping to get it going again, so I'm going to try some more shenanigans..

Not too shabby. Although one of the mods that's out of action was a one-button pedestal. Sadly, I used that one a lot for airlock control so those need to be replaced and then remapped. Structurally everything's fine though, that's a relief.
