'Vel' Heavy Bomber - Building a Fleet (w4stedspace)

Description
The Vel is a vanilla small ship heavy bomber with a highly efficient payload designed for maximum 'bang for buck' and the ability to operate as an independent unit. Using a custom projector payload utilising grinders and landing gear alongside solid turret defense the Vel is a remarkably cheap solution for targetting capital ships and dealing high damage even against heavy armour.

Following on from the Dandpatta I wanted to continue with that design style but re-use the frame in a more efficient way space wise. The result is the 'Vel', similar in design to the Dandpatta but capable of a far more devastating strike without having to sacrifice much extra size.

Features:

Custom projector-based launcher firing heavy armour 'spears' via landing gear to keep costs low and deployment simple.
Swift reloading mechanism and large cargo space.
Light and cheap design.
8x Gatling turrets for defense

Usage:
1 - Weld New Ammo (only use when staionary)
2 - Fire (use at maximum speed with dampers off, activate dampers after pressing it.)
3- Target Camera

will this be affective agenst ships with shield generators?
im thinking of getting some kinda of small ship bomber that will hopfully be able to avoid most enemy turrets and be able to take doun enemy large shields...
ive seen on the server shields going from a milion points to 14 milion points... (energy shield mod).
idear is... in face to face combat you can always use being bigger more armord and shielded and with more guns, but at sme point someone will make a even bigger spaceship. so wy not try to get and modify something to do massive damage without depending on force and tanking ability alone?

@wasted yes, its really weird, but from what I tested, it just does not weld blocks near landing gears at all.

@jojo at the moment I'm covering the easy ground, fighters and bombers etc.. gives me time to decide on the overall fleet layout. I suspect this will be a fairly modern naval interpretation though without the usual focus on battleships etc.. more about mobility and punch. But yeah, for now the list doesn't exist yet, more of a list of options atm

Nice ship, is there a list with all the fleetships you are going to build, or are you just improvising what kind of ships you need?

@Chev Very odd, I'll look into it.. shouldn't be any reason why the welders act differently in survival.. timers will need changing a bit like you say but it should still weld everything. Weird! Thanks for the heads up
