Description
MAJOR UPDATE

- Caves are enabled! Dive into the depths and see what challenges await
- Controllers are now fully supported. Be sure to pull out your favourite gamepad!
- Two new soul gems are hidden in the wilderness and ready to be uncovered
- A whole bunch of new abilities, for both friends and foes
- Numerous bug fixes! Seriously. A lot of bug fixes. Please report any new ones you find though
- Pigman can finally wear hats

Please note that Shipwrecked and Hamlet are NOT supported by this mod

I've marked this update as a beta for now, to give me some time to fix any bugs that pop up

This mod completely changes how you fight in Don't Starve, by replacing its combat mechanics with RPG inspired turn-based encounters! So slay monsters, gain experience, and find a way to escape the world in which Maxwell has marooned you.

You're going to need some help though, so be sure to search far and wide for the soul gems of long dead heroes. The spirits of these ancient warriors, trapped within their crystalline prisons, will lend you power and extraordinary skills in battle. Equipping different soul gems will change how you approach a fight. Maxwell's minions have also captured some of your closest friends. Free them, and they will join you in your quest to escape!

This mod has been a real labour of love, undertaken on and off over the period of several years. I'd like to really thank some people that help me make this mod a reality:

@Vivalavie and @UltimaZix for lending their lovely art to the mod, which has jazzed up its appearance to no end, and @Mobbstar and @ImDaMisterL for the many hours they spent helping me catch many nasty bugs :-) Thanks guys!

Please note, that this mod currently supports Don't Starve Reign of Giants, but not Shipwrecked. It is recommended that this mod is played without any other mods running as the changes to the base mechanics of game are extensive and compatibility can not be assured. A new game must also be started for this mod to take effect.

Though this mod is now 'released', there may still be some bugs lurking around. If you can send me a detailed report on any bugs encountered, that would be awesome. But for now, enjoy!

A quick explanation of the mod's configuration options

- Monster power: Changes the strength of encountered monsters.
- Monster vitality: Changes how much health monsters have.
- Monster intelligence: (Hopefully) affects how intelligently monsters behave in combat.
- Random encounters: Set the times of day that random encounters can occur.
- Frequency of encounters: How often random encounters occur.
- Loot from encounters: Determines whether monsters can drop loot.
- Key to manage party: Set the key used to open the party manager. Use this to manage your equipment and skills.
- Party regenerates health: you and your friends slowly regenerate health over time
- Death is permanent: When off, if defeated in battle or the player dies, the game is reloaded from the last save point.

I tried to play this with a modded character and it crashed on me, is their a possibility of an update that makes modded characters compatible?

The caves are a late game area now and will open up once you reach a certain point in the story :)

I haven't play in a long time but if i remember they are far from spawn and i think you just gotta go to the world settings when you are making a world to remove sinkholes.

I have been wondering, how does one get into the caves? as I am unsure on how to remove the sinkholes when the mod is active.
