Sentinel Landing Craft

Description
As seen in Star Wars and built by sienar Fleet Systems, the Sentinel Landing Craft is used extensively by the Galactic Empire for moving troops, supplies, and vehicles where needed. Featuring folding wings, a spacious cargo compartment, heavy weaponry and shielding, the sentinel is truly a fierce ship. The Sentinel is survival ready , thruster damage friendly, and capable of operating in 1G environments.

Update 3: Major update/redesign. Moved all thrusters (excluding main thrusters) into internal housings. Removed many components that were redundant/no longer needed (extra reactors and gyros mainly), reduced weight from ~776,000Kg to ~569,000Kg. Updated weapons loadout to new Star Wars weapons mod. Massive framerate improvements and reduction in production costs.

Walker transport/vehicle carrying version coming in the future!

Important Notes
-This ship is around 14000 blocks, it is the biggest 'small ship gone large' that I have built yet. I have done the best I can to reduce the amount of blocks. See the maintenance/production notes section below for more information.

Features:

-Folding wings! The wing folding mechanism (based off the one used in the T-4a Lambda Shuttle) allows for a fully cinematic experience when coming in to land on a planets surface. Also features locks to allow the Sentinel to fly normally.

-Shields! Using the Beta Energy Shields mod, the Sentinel is fully equipped with an extra heavy shielding array to keep it safe during landing operations on hostile planets. (Escorts still recommended!)

-Multi-Function-Displays! Utilizing the amazing script system, the Sentinel is equipped with LCD panels that put all the necessary information at the crews fingertips. The pilot has access to speed, damage, power, date, time, and GPS position. The co-pilot has access to speed, complete power output, damage, date, time, and GPS position. Two shared displays show shield power and Hyperdrive charge status. One wall mounted display in the cockpit shows damage, date, time, reactor output, and GPS position.

-Firepower! Featuring eight forward firing heavy laser cannons and two concussion missile launchers, the Sentinel can completely annihilate any target that gets in front of it. Close Air Support has never been so powerful or intimidating as it is with the Sentinel!

-Cargo Capacity! The main compartment of the Sentinel can hold 32 passengers, 4 74-Z speeder bikes, and an entire outposts worth of cargo with space left over. The compartment is built to be modular so you can add or remove seats, bike racks, or cargo containers as you wish. Keeping your troops supplied has never been so easy!

!Important Operating Notes!

-Wing Folding: The Sentinel features locks to allow the ship to fly normally with wings up and down. The first set of locks (6 in the pilots toolbar) are for locking the wings when they are down (flight position) the second set of locks (7 in the pilots toolbar) are for locking the wings when they are up (landing position). The folding mechanism (5 in the pilots toolbar) should only be activated when both locks are set to OFF/UNLOCKED, failure to do so may result in awkward flight characteristics and possible loss of the ship to the ground.

-Landing Gears: Very important! The MexPex heavy landing gears used on this shuttle may break off at the same high speeds a normal piston would. High G maneuvers are highly discouraged at speeds above 50M/s. The landing gears also feature locking systems on the footpads, these are only, repeat only, to be locked when landed on the ground, small ship built pads, or large ship built pads. Any locking attempt to a station will result in the pads breaking off from the rest of the gear, attempting to lift any loads or move the ship with locks engaged will have the same effect. Current pilot guidelines recommend leaving the locks off while landed on a planet, the Sentinel is very stable on its four landing legs.

-Framerate/Lag: The Sentinel is made up of around 14000 blocks with multiple program blocks running to power the LCDs. Current guidelines highly advise powering the ship down when not in use to minimize computer impact and fuel consumption.

Mods Used:
-Small Ship Mega Mod Pack
-Azimuth power pack
-Azimuth passenger seats and open cockpit mod.
-Star Wars Weapons and more
-Maglock Surface Docking Clamps V2
-Sanchincorp Hoverbike pack
-Beta Energy Shields
-Sektan Modular Thrusters
-DX11 Boarding Ramp
-MexPex Heavy Landing Gear
-Reworked Armor Ramps
-Blast Door Sections
(That should be all the mods, please report any issues spawning the ship in so I can rework the list.)

Production/Maintenance notes:
Fuel receptacles are on the sides of the primary reactor in the second floor aft of the cockpit entrance.

This Sentinel was mainly based off the version seen in Star Wars: Empire At War as this was the version I am most familiar with. The internal layout was created using resource material including a top down floor plan, the two floor design was chosen as an internal elevator was present in this floor plan, and it would also maximize cargo space.

!Disclaimer!
Feel free to use this ship however you want, just please give credit to the original author (me) if you do!

@Wreckeronezero: Is it all right if i use your shuttles as compliment when i upload my ship, i will give you full credit for it?

Could this in theory be modified to dock with say and Aquitens Light Crusier if it was made to scale to dock with.

I'm actually working on redoing all of my workshop ships with less mods and just updating them in general. Now that rotors have a built in locking function I can finally remove the blast door block mod on all my shuttles for example. Its rather tedious and i'm very busy with college, but hopefully in the next few weeks I should be able to replace all these older mod heavy versions.

Anyway, I have another issue that I think was caused by a recent update. When I try and spawn the thing, it appears with entire chunks of blocks taken out of it. I have all the mods, and I don't know what's going on with it.

Speaking of mods, would a version that's less mod-heavy be possible? Keen has added various new armor blocks since you originally posted this, allowing designs like this to be created without the need for the armor ramps, blast door blocks, or even the insane amount of modular thrusters that lag the game like hell.

My ears! Jesus christ man turning this thing on caused my speakers to crackle, are those 200-something modular thrusters really needed?

Nonetheless, I love the ship! It seems a little big, but then again this was used for hauling equipment among various military personnel. I'd love to see more builds from you in the future!

i love the ship

@Error404
WTF is the "DarkOrbit Sentinel"? I found nothing on the internet at all the ever relates to what you have mentioned and that "This ship here looks like the one I have seen before" even though the one above you was originally designed and detailed out back in the 1970s...but ok..let's go with your ficticious "DarkOrbit Sentinel"

Don't worry Wreckeronezero, I got your back and plus this shit looks awesome, thank you for another Star Wars original :) *slaps Error404 for their error*
Wreckeronezero  [author] 6 Dec, 2015 @ 4:06pm
What? This ship has nothing to do with DarkOrbit, its from Star Wars.

I see these first parts of the look of the DarkOrbit Sentinel... But this is bad =(
