Description
This is a port of an incomplete mod made by Naxete, based off of the drivables code from Apollocalypse. It’s buggy, unbalanced, incomplete and laggy but…

Included are four "mechs"; Actors that essentially act as vehicles and need to be driven by another actor. To enter a mech just set your AImode to golddig and tap the pie menu button. If it doesn't work, move closer. Movement orders won't work with the mechs right now because of a lua problem. (more details at the end of the description)

FED
The standard and the one with the least bugs. It’s pretty well balanced in the heavyweight mech category even though nothing in this mod is close to vanilla balanced.

It comes armed with dual uzis and a rocket launcher. In a 1v1 with giant robots from other mods, such as the pelican army or AAL, it can hold it’s own. Most giant robot duels will end in one blow.


EADI
A simple defense-oriented mech. This one doesn’t have many bugs to it either, though it’s less rounded than the FED in a mech confrontation.

It’s armed with a HUGE shield and a (presumably placeholder) modified bolter. Don’t underestimate this machine for it’s simplicity:

1: The shield when used with the actor is the steadiest i’ve seen in the game.

2: Though the bolter is a single-shot weapon it deals decent damage over a decent firerate and never needs to reload.


CNC
A “Concussion Mech”. It gives out headaches. This one’s guns are a bit laggy but that’s about it.

It’s primary weapon; overbearing dual chainguns that fire heavy slugs which explode shortly after landing softly on whatever target you’re aiming at today. It’s secondary weapon is twin mortar launchers that fire large shells that break apart into bomblets mid-flight. Firing the mortars in a arc deals much more damage and covers a wider area. These weapons were made before the razzle dazzle of modern .lua so there’s no aiming guide for the mortar and you will need to calculate your own aim.

It is also the only mech that lacks a standard jetpack. Instead the CNC uses jump jets that fire in bursts, with a cooldown in-between jumps.


VkR
A mechsuit without the “mech” or the “suit”. Functionally this is just another robotic unit but it’s probably a incomplete small suit. This was disabled in the original .rte but i re-enabled it for the steam repost.

The VkR spawns with only a auto cannon and has no unique weapons but it’s about half as durable as it’s bigger brothers anyway. It is controllable like a normal non-mech actor because of the unfinished nature of it.




PERSONAL BLOG
I tried (and failed) to make the VkR work like the other suits. Granted I did it a bit lazily since .lua isn’t my strong point. I left comments on my failed work in “Pilotage.lua” and “VkR-Suit WITHAI.ini” inside the “Suits/VkR” directory if you want to play around with that.

Also the "lua issue" I mentioned is...It's something that would have to be tested.

Most- ok; All AHuman actors in the current build need to have an AI script attached to them in their .ini . In the case of most base factions and mods the script is
ScriptPath = Base.rte/Actors/AI/HumanAI.lua

This lets your units respond to fire and movement orders. Now, if i applied the script to a mech, would this mech suddenly become controllable while unpiloted in some weird double-negative? (The pilotable scripts disable AI when the suit is empty while HumanAI is AI, get it?)

I'll need to face that problem at some point anyway.

Amazing so much fun.... just that entering bunkers is kinda hard...
oh and a request, make maps that the mechs can traverse in.
