Asterix

The Asterix is an orbital dropship capable of on planet flight.

It is equipped with a few Ion thrusters to enable in space movement for undocking from bigger ships and to move out of their hangar. On planets however the Asterix will have to use its four large atmospheric thrusters, however due to their vertical placement landing does take some skill.

The Asterix has been tested on an orbital drop, and is capable of easily carrying 20 metric tons(40% of it's own weight) of cargo during atmospheric flight. A small team of 6 men can be transported and is protected by a retractable cage in te center of the craft, any equipment they might need can be stored in the large cargo container at the back. The Asterx features a set of 2 large oxygen tanks allowing it to operate in environments without oxygen.

One perticular feat the Asterix is not designed to do is moving back into space, for this reason the costs have been kept relatively low.

Special:
-To land the craft please extend the landing pistons, impacts up to 3m/s with a flight weight of 66 tons have been succesfully tested. If the craft has it's pistons extended and entry is not possible there is a button at the back under the conveyor that will lower the craft.
-The co-pilot can use a special camera on the bottom of the craft to give precise landing directions, this has been done to allow the pilot to focus on keeping the craft stable with its vertical lift.
