Example of incompatibility of new DLC with old complicated mod. Still no crash, but useless:


Incompatible mod will cause some defects with gameplay for sure if it replaces game files. It's so-called not proper API style. For example, if the mod has files in modfolder/scripts/prefabs with same names as in gamefolder/data/scripts/prefabs or gamefolder/data/Dlc000X/scripts/prefabs. For example, "Silkworm" mod contains rocks.lua, birdcage.lua, stalagmite.lua and stalagmite_tall.lua. So this mod will replace new files from DLC with its own old files. So it can break at least bird cage. I'm not sure what exactly will happen when it will be built and used.

You can set "Detect Risky Mods" to "Yes" in mod settings. It's "No" by defeault. This does not mean that they are really bad mods and will always crash your game. They may cause incompatibility errors under certain conditions. Authors of "risky" mods should push new update on each new DLC and on some big updates of the game. These mods are just potential incompatible, not really bad.

a) Very simple mods. There are only two possibilities: they will work or they won't work.
b) Simple character mods.
c) Only custom items mods.
d) Any mods that does not touch standard game mechanics.
e) Only interface mods except RPG HUD (Neat): it's too complicated.
