Japan Naval Ensign (1889)

Description
Auf Anfrage/By Request.

The contraversial flag, ensign of the former Imperial Japanese Navy and the present Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force. Some feel this flag inappropriate as a symbol of Japanese Imperialism and a reminder of warcrimes which have gone unrepented; however, EU IV is a game about imperialism, it would be hypocritical to deny a symbol because it represents something we all willfully and gleefully indulge in. Even though the cruelties of war are not explicitly mentioned in these games, it would take a feeble mind to miss their presence. CK2 has mechanics for rape in the conqubine system, and EU IV has events mentioning how mercenaries likewise, rape and pillage. However, this flag is not, as many say, akin to the Swastika flag of Nazi Germany. It has been used by the Japanese Naval forces for more than a century and even the current Prime Minister of Japan has endorsed its use. Therefore, in accordance with Japanese domestic policy and acknowledging the nature of the content of grand strategy games, I see no reason to block this request any longer.

Yes, I do take requests. So, if you don't know how to make a flag you desperately want, or just value your time more than mine, feel free to leave a request in the comments. I speak English, Deutsch, Nederlands et Francais, so if you feel more comfortable leaving a message in any of those languages, again, feel free. You can also use any other langauge, but you're going to get a google translate reply.

This mod works with ironman and never needs an update. If I don't update it for 1.15 or later, you can click it on, even if it tells you the mod is out of date. It will continue to work, unless they redo the flag system (highly unlikely) or if they redo the country tag system (likewise unlikely).

I tried limiting it to flags and deleting old mods/mod files i no longer used, and they didn't show up. i think it might be some kind of problem on my end rather than with the mod tho.

I just tested them. They do show up. I think there is a limit to how many mods will download. Try sorting the mods to flags to really make sure they're there. If the problem persists, I will just send you a link to the files.

Thanks, i have both this one and the imperial army flag installed but neither of them show up in my list, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't help. I appreciate any help you could give me.

Heee. I don't know. It might be an issue with Steam? I will try and download it tomorrow via steam (obviously, on my main computer I have the files) but I do know that the flag DOES show up on my main computer. So the core files are okay. I have used this mod several times (actually, my last screenshot background for EU4 was using this mod) and, as far I know this is true for all of my flags, and this mod is completely functional.

I will try to find a solution to your problems nonetheless!

It's tricky. Steam mods are opaque to the user. You'd have to find the archive, open it up and insert this flag into their mod. Otherwise, mod compatibility doesn't exist.

Can't seem to get this mod to work. I tried replacing the ET modern flags file with this japan one. didn't work. Thoughts?
