[DISCONTINUED] Desert Dunes Planet

Description
DISCONTINUED.

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
∇ ∇ ∇ ∇ ∇ IT'S NOT BASED THE BOOK "DUNE" OR THE PLANET "ARRAKIS" ∇ ∇ ∇ ∇ ∇
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

Custom height and mat maps, custom ore deposits. Fixed the texture bug. It needed a MaterialGroup entry for everything (where there is no MaterialGroup to fill a place on the map, it puts moon stone).

Most ores are in very large veins, but larger veins are only found deep underground (100-120m) and are only detectable by large ship ore detectors from the surface. Ore markings on the planet surface are faint, so you'll have to actually scout them out manually a lot of the time.
Contains all ores including platinum.
Ice is found only in very thin and few veins. It's an important resource.

Sunset looks bloody beautiful by the way.

Modeled of the planet from that Riddick movie I can't remember the name of. Yeah, that one. Pitch Black.

Details:
1g Gravity
Breathable atmosphere
Atmo density of 1.1
Oxygen density at 0.8 (high)

Changelog
Update 5
- Made heightmap more seamless and made it more dune-like and less hill-like.
- Fixed complete lack of ice (it's just rare enough that hydrogen is only used for getting off-planet).
- Changed ore distribution rules.
- Changed Rayleigh scattering (sky color is more orange now).
- Ore deposits are now faintly marked. It should be easy to find the deposits but hard to get the ore out. I'm thinking of making most deposits really far (200m+) down so that large-scale mining operations are needed.
- Slightly decreased oxygen density for no apparent reason.
- Added screenshots.

Same problem. There seems to be a texture issue. Planet appears mostly grey.

@KazukiFuse09 Hi, I'm not able to create mods for the game at this stage, but there is information in the guides section about how to create planets/moons.
my planet modding guide
There are official guides by KSH as well which may be more in-depth.

Best way to start is load a vanilla file into krita, that way you'll get the color space and everything set up automatically.

Color Model Type HSV

Model: Grayscale
Depth: 16 Bits Float
Profile: gray built-in (Default)

You need float I believe. Integer doesn't allow decimal points, if that changes anything.

Could you tell me what export setting you use on Krita? I tried setting the image properties to

Model: Grayscale/Alpha
Depth: 16-bit interrger/channel
Profile: Gray built-in

I still get wrong forrmat errors from SE. Although I can open up the World Machine export image and it will have the same set up and work fine.

If you read my Planet Modding Guide , it tells you how to use Krita (krita.org) to export in 16bit. I also used a program called Scape (http://www.decarpentier.nl/scape) to create the first part of the heightmap (to later make seamless).

Greetings,

I been creating a Dune style planet but have ran into software limitations on the fact I don't own photoshop yet. With this limitation being my inability to export 16bit greyscale hightmapsI have a specific resource I designed for desert planets and have custom voxel textures as well. What I was woundering is if I could have your permission to use your wounderful hight maps. I think they are fantasticly done and though I plan to use my own when I get the software. I think yours would suit just as well for now.

I will give you full credit within the mod for providing the hightmaps, as well as being my template which I have based my planet on.

Thanks, glad you like it :)
