UFP Tempest MK1a

This is the Tempest ship that featured in the captial ship battle movie about the Battle to recapture Blue mining base.

This version is out of date and has been decommissioned for civilian disposal.

The ship that commanded the Battle was eventually decommissioned for civilian disposal. Its original specifications were drawn up by Commander Zannador; in Ramblers Frontier near Jupiter, while he was serving on the scout ship "Z" at the UFP Red Baron shipyards and home town base (managed by Director Nandoz) in 2067.

The Specs called for an agile multi role capital ship to lead a small fleet of patrol ships capable of operating autonomously without a base for prolonged periods of time in the Void sector undetected.

Construction commenced with logistical support from Captain D. Hunter, and engineer first Class Karnivool at the UFP Swag base (Managed by Director Plutanus) in 2068.

It was briefly refitted in 2071 at Karnivool's satellite facility to upgrade its structural integrity, before being put in charge of a three ship patrol fleet (Tempest, Sentinel and Z) and was briefly stationed in 2074 at the Alpha VCI Base Shipyards prior to their destruction in 2075 by an AI incursion.

In 2077 it was stationed at Draco Station, where both thrust and firepower were slightly upgraded, before the fleet was stationed in deep space to patrol the area near one of the abandoned Dark class asteroid bases popular with freighters under the pretext of hunting for pirates. In 2088 it participated in the battle of Blue Mining Inc along with the Odin class “Sentinel”, The Zeus Battleship, and a generic Destroyer class ship where the base was ceded back to Blue Mining Inc. after the UFP took heavy losses against the revolting miners.

Tempest survived the battle and was decommissioned in 2089 when Zannador was promoted to General, but subsequently resigned over discontent over the direction the UFP was heading, citing concerns it was bad for business to start pointless wars. The now decommissioned ship was sold to Zannador as scrap, but was sighted on a number of occasions still operational in 2090, and records indicate it was re-registered as an industrial class ship. It is unknown what became of the Sentinel and Z; in the chaos after the battle of Blue mining they were.. misplaced. It is suspected the registry keys were altered and they are now operating under another identity...

Officially the Tempest title transferred in 2091 to Dronefab Inc, (now managed by Director Zannador of Dronefab Corporation); where it was used as the basis for their current tactical warship class before being disposed of.
