Having previously relied on speed and numbers for single man fighters, Tristavian Shipyards pilots faced high attrition during the war with the Ceresian Economic Union who favored fielding large numbers of Fast Attack Craft for rapid battlespace control. The solution came from a previously scrapped design for a mid-range two-man fighter designated the HF-227.

Larger than the previous TVSI fighters, the Shaman is still compatible with TVSI 4/2 Standard hangars though considerably less room will be left for deck operations. Equipped with three Gatling guns for the pilot, the main weaponry comes in the form of a unique stern mounted turret, controlled by a rear facing gunner. This allows the Shaman to flyby larger enemy targets dodging return fire while continuing to deal constant damage. In combat the HF-227 primarily focusses on disabling turrets on larger ships, though it can still make a capable dogfighter; especially as nothing can easily sit on its tail.

The Shaman is capable of hovering actions on planetary bodies of up to 0.3G allowing for usage on all the non-atmospheric moons of Sol.
