Description
First modular workshop upload. Its a multi-purpose truck, with various different back attachments. Being me, I've made it 100% mod free, that way everyone can use it without needing to download any mods.

The truck is fully survival capible, and comes equipped with 20 uranium in each reactor. It also has a single air tank in the back, as well as two air vents set to depressurize attatched directly to the driver and passenger seat, providing both with oxygen for when you have full, or partial atmosphere. Otherwise you can access the oxygen tank in the back and insert oxygen bottles.

The back attachements it can get are:

Standard Cargo Container. Has 6 medium cargo containers inside it, and connectors at the back so you can hook it up to whatever you wish.

Oxygen Storage Tanks: 5 oxygen tanks and a generator you can access to fill them up, useful for extended trips on planets with no atmosphere.

Hydrogen Storage Tanks: A heavy attatchment with 4 hydrogen tanks, and access for filling them via oxygen generator with Ice. Has two connectors on the back of the tanks to allow anything with a fitting setup/single connector to connect and refuel tanks. As stated, its a heavy load. And will need you to boost the rear suspension from 20 strength, to 30.

Troop Carrier: A simple light armor container, with 6 passenger seats in the back. Allowing you to carry a total of 8 people. One driver, one passenger up front, and 6 more in back.

Flat Bed/Carrier Bed: An open bed, much like a pickup trucks. Can just plop whatever you wish inside it, and drive about.

Trailer: A 6 wheeled double mount trailer, attaching to the merge block right behind the cabin, with rotors just above the mount to allow for articulation. Using this trailer will deminish overall vehicle performance, and it is advised to set the back wheels from 20 strength to 30 strength. The trailer can carry two cargo containers, and would provide useful in non-atmospheric planets with a standard cargo container, and an oxygen tank. However, while it can accept almost all of the attachments, it cannot have two hydrogen tank packs due to their size, and cannot carry two crew carriers due to their lowered step.

Retrieval Bed/Tow Arm: A back meant to be used to retrieve crashed vehicles. Using quite a few rotors, and 2 pistons, it is highly advised against using it in multiplayer due to that. However in Single Player, it can be quite reliable. Though my tests I've not had it explode at all. Only one prototype exploded, and that was due to wrong piston placement. It can carry various vehicles effectively, although you will need to adjust the back wheel strength depending on what you wish to recover.

I made it work turn the merge block of first then drop then turn mugger block on

It does, its just physics around merge blocks have been really broken lately. You have to have them lined up perfectly, and even then it still explodes. Nothing I can do about it

Only workaround I can think of is just bumping a wheel over into position and letting it snap into place perhaps? Just build a suspension on the outside manually, cut it off and nudge the dropped wheel into place

yeah that looks about right, was the bed longer or just thicker bumper to colse up the wheel arch?

I am also unsure of when suspention block spacing changed but yeah for sure a working MP version might save you alot of msging if the truck gains popularity as with most things there are the select few people that dislike things that dont work perfectly first go and may whine a bit on forums. I personnaly like the challeng of when things dont work as crafing and engineering is my trade background IRL I have worked on boats, ships, cars and trucks modifing and repairing them for close to 15 years now.

Hmm. Wonder why wheel spacing changed? As for extended suspension, that truck originally game from another truck I made. Was direct decendant of the initial prototype. The later version had its wheels spread by one block, like so: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=575272768 However, it stretched out the truck and made it look a bit off. I'm not too sure how I was able to place the wheels so close like that, and not too sure when it was changed. These were made before the last two patches, so they could have snuck a change in with them. I'll see about uploading a different version to allow for proper survival usage.

Spawning in a creative game is fine all works as it should. but in survival mode is where I have issues when welding it out from a projection. Each set of wheels front and back will only allow one of the wheels to build either side without adjusting the spacing. I found it is possible to move the very front wheels froward one block and the very rear wheels one block backwards and redesign the blocks of armour that would clash with the wheels to a different shape. moving these wheels I thought would make the vehicle a bit better at dealing with ramps and slopes due to the wheel being closer to the end of the vehicle (longer wheelbase). making the wheelbase shorter was not somthing I wished to do witht this vehicle as it would cause so many problems when adding any of the modules to the back.

Currently I am still trying to get a complete redesinged truck on the gound undamaged to get a bluprint I can share with you if you wish to check and repost as a viable MP version.

So when you spawn this it spawns in without a front set/back set of wheels?
Hawkins338 16 Jan, 2016 @ 4:21pm
The game seems to have changed the mimimum spacing for the wheels from 2 blocks to 3. with a little bit of creativity and alot of time adjusting the front and rear bumpers of the truck you can actually move the fromt and rear wheels and make it work. the trucks handeling is a bit worse for it but is managable, but the truck doesnt look anywhere near as neat and realistic, it has more of a APC with a missing roadwheel in the middle look about it.

Design looks good, I'll give it a try. Planning to add mobile drilling rig trailer to the board?
