Scenario Brief
13 Feb 1994,

A quiet Sunday morning in New York Harbour, it’s cold and windy and the main topic of conversation at the Sandy Hook, New Jersey Coast Guard Station is the ongoing fiasco at the Olympics.

This scenario is playable by both sides. It is much more challenging from the US side and will also provide interesting threads to future ballelset scenarios, playing from the Soviet side is good fun but fairly easy:

As the Soviet player your mission is to disrupt maritime traffic in the New York Harbour area.

As the US player you are going about your business conducting routine Coast Guard patrols. The situation will develop.

This is the third scenario of a 20-24 scenario campaign. See the Northern Fury background document for further insight on the background and happenings so far. The key nuggets
· Cold War continued, no thaw in relations. Germany still divided, WP still alive and doing very well.
· Yesterday, 12 Feb 1994, the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, opened with ominous indications of trouble brewing. Soviet and Eastern Bloc countries were represented at the opening ceremonies but many of their athletes were not present at the start of the actual events this morning. The Russian Olympic village was empty and initial investigation found that many of the athletes had simply disappeared, while only a few had flown home. Norway ordered the IOC to cancel the games and evacuate the Olympic Village.
· It is now early morning (New York Time) on 13 Feb 1994.

• You should turn 'special messages' ON, and ‘scenario events’ OFF.
• Please respect the initial ready times for aircraft. There are several aircraft with a long ready time, this is to replicate crews on Sunday routine and general maintenance.
• Points are allotted for losses to military, USCG and civilian ships
• Points will also be allotted for completing special missions as directed in the scenario
