I built something similar to this into DOFactions recently. I don't know if the scaling is exactly the same (my default system spacing is 130k now) but I also tweaked ship size scaling while I was at it too. May not appeal to all because DOF also includes a bunch of other stuff but it most definitely is compatible with the current version of the game.

And no, I have no current plans to put out a stand-alone version. Too much recurrence to manage with separate mods, plus there are all sorts of other things beyond just planet/star size that have to be adjusted to make something like this work properly.

All of the mods stay around even whether they're compatible or not. If you mean, why is it listed as the most popular, then I do not know but Steam's workshop organisation is pretty odd nowadays.

It's not that big a deal to update it yourself if you really want to, just point WinMerge at map_effects.as and ftl.as and copy anything new over, making sure to preserve any changes about size, range or speed.
