Mobile Recon Base

Description
New today from Interplanetary Ship Design, Inc. we are proud to introduce the Mobile Recon Base. This formidable ground transport vehicle is a large grid design with many valuable and notable features.

950,000 kg mass
1 flight seat and 3 passenger seats in the cabin
2 refineries
2 assemblers
2 large cargo containers
4 small containers

4 oxygen generators
4 large hydro thrusters downward
6 small hydro thrusters on either side
4 small hydro thrusters on the front
1 large hydro thruster on the rear
2 small hydro thrusters on the top

There is a complete system of conveyor access points on the vehicle. There is room for a small flying ship to dock on the top. There is also an extendable connection trunk underneath for discreet access and storage for a small ground vehicle. There are also two conveyor connector points under the vehicle for on-foot access as well as container access on either side of the vehicle. There is an option to use the rear facing thruster as a speed boost for driving. Also there is an option to turn off the vehicle's forward facing thusters for cruising in hover mode and saving fuel. The liftoff thrusters have an option to step the thrust up and down incrementally in order to save fuel while lifting off of a planet's surface. The cabin's access door serves as an airlock and oxygen systems are included for use in orbit or on other planets.

Hill climb test:

I drove the vehicle up a mountain and back down to the starting point at the bottom. Highlights are a minor crash at the foot of the mountain which the vehicle recovered from with no problem, and an incident where the vehicle becomes stuck at the top of the mountain which the vehicle overcomes using its hovering thruster system. Be sure to check out the frenetic drive back down the mountain at over 300 km/h. This is a demonstration of the durability and toughness of the overall design as well as the robust suspension system setup. The vehicle suffered no noticable damage or ill effects as a result of this test.

Orbital lift-off test:

I lifted the vehicle off of the planet's surface using the onboard thruster throttling system and acheived orbit. then I stopped and flew straight back down to land in the same spot as I originally lifted off from. This trip going both ways used slightly less than 8% of the vehicle's onboard hydrogen storage. Highlights include thruster system de-activation due to pilot error near the apogee and subsequent recovery. The return trip was competely drama free using a low-braking method of falling at full speed and applying the brakes near the bottom of the flight path.

Both test concluded successfully with no noticable damage or ill-effects suffered by the vehicle or the pilot.
