Description
The long awaited redesign of the Swordfish class has finally arrived.

When our engineers set out to improve upon the original swordfish, they had their work cut out for them. As before, the Mk. II is designed as a lead destroyer. At the time, no suitable gun was available for the main artillery, so a placeholder was put in. Initial power requirements lead to the re-use of the reliable and fuel efficient Coyote engine. Testing of the design proved it to be quite capable, but without adequate armament, the project was temporarily shelved. Featured here is the first fully functional prototype.

To begin, the hull was lengthened slightly from the Marlin class. Armor was added around the engine, ammunition, and fuel storage, as well as the main turret. The movement of the bridge to the back allowed for heavier armament, and the installation of missile interceptor launchers.

The Swordfish's primary armament is a 333mm cannon firing HEAP rounds. In addition, a secondary turret and six vertical-launch missiles fill out it's anti-ship capabilities. Two triple-barreled AA guns provide anti-air cover, and a twin-tube torpedo launcher will sink anything under the waves.

A top speed under 15m/s was considered rather lacking. After the development of the new Marlin engine and the Leviathan MK. II, several proposals have been made. Testing has begun but nothing has been completed. Prospects are encouraging.

The Swordfish can be refitted from the Marlin class, and upgrades to the Spearfish class.
