Description
Teris is a mostly lifeless barren world. The planets little amount of planet life gives it a low oxygen atmosphere however the atmosphere its self is quite dense. Something the first explorers to this planet notice is that the surface has many large and hollow spike formations. They thought they were volcanoes at first but further investigation showed no evidence for that assumption. After a few months of study a team of scientists learned that these spikes were not formed naturally but were never able to find out what formed them.

Not a scientist but I coulkd guess that the spikes could actually be formed by originally being ingeous intrusions, and being a stronger stone than the stone around the formations. This way, water could erode away the softer stone (over a VERY long time) leaving the pinnacles standing alone, and then the water is gone after time. That of course is assuming that the pinnacles are stone. I do like the mystery aspect of it.
