Baldr Class Destroyer [Modless]

Description
A fast escort destroyer meant to protect larger less nimble ships for smaller threats.
Armed with x4 gatling turrets, 1 rocket turret and x3 interior turrets for close missile and personel defense.
Weighting in at 1.2 million kg's with a single jump drive the Baldr can jump up to 2000km.
Armor is a mix between light and heavy, some spots are thin but the Baldr isn't built for extended combat.
Basicly good for escort, patrol and hit and run attacks.

-Nordic Beast

Update:

Reworked the interior for pressurized sections! [Space Putz' idea]
Removed the large reactor and added x9 small reactors with welders and a projector for easy repair all in a new engineering area.
Added a small hydrogen thruster for emergencies. [Space Putz' idea]

Linked to the Baldr in my guide as an example of a Frigate. The Baldr met the mass and armaments estimates, and is about the same size as the frigate I was building. This whole guide thing is starting to make sense.

I've also been experimenting with using spherical grav gens (and mass blocks on the fighters) to make arresting gear on the top deck of the Tyr. So far my best success seems to be a shallow angle-of-attack at about 35mps and switching on the mass right when passing over the stern. The fighters' landing gear survive around 2 out of 3 attempts! :)

Check it out and let me know what you think! The reshaped armor around the keel is intended to keep it air tight when lightly damaged, as the original I think had some blocks meeting at the edges.

Looking forward to it! ^_^

I'm just about ready to post the Mk.4 redesign! Reworked the aft lower interior from your input in the last shipyard video. :)

hobart's comment has me looking at this ship again... still a fave

I love this ship, I built it in a survival world and it was pretty easy on the resources. I used the nanite mod for the actual construction. I've made a few modifications to weapons and added shields but right out of the dry dock it is a very cool ship that I would be happy either with some mods or vanilla.

Thanks again Dark! Thats kind of what I was going for actually. Though I started off with an old submarine I'd made in SE a few months back as a starting point and went from there. Hence the "deck gun" being a rocket turret. :)

Extremely compact design, made possible by use of Conveyor blocks. Manages to still be very quick and nimble. Very cleverly assembled. I think the bridge is my absolute favorite element of this design.

Destroyer is a very apt description. It feels like an old WWII Destroyer Escort to me.

lol Nobody, I couldn't help but chuckle at that! I happy it worked well in survival! :)
