Description: The MS-1 (Малый Сопровождения -1, "small convoy") tank was developed by the Soviet Union during the interwar period between World War 1 and World War 2. It had 2 crew, a commander and driver. The commander acted as a gunner, loader, radio operator, and spotter while the driver focused solely on driving (Driving soviet tanks are not easy, from what I've heard). It was a predecessor to the T-16, a prototype vehicle which was plagued with transmission and engine problems. The MS-1 (also known as T-18) improved upon these problems, and also surpassed the T-16 in terms mobility by bumping up the speed to 18km/h and an increased turning speed. However, both vehicles had major trouble crossing ditches more than 2 meters long and 1.2 meters deep. Impressive, yes. On the plus side, the vehicle was very effective against soft targets and infantry.
Only 133 were ordered, 96 of which were actually built. The vehicle never saw combat.
