Awesome Arabia - Better Ships of the Desert
Instead of double oil resources, desert farms claim plains and desert tiles for each outgoing caravan from the capital. Bazaars also no longer get double luxuries.

@Toheck it's to simulate the vast expanse of sparsly populated desert territory. You don't get that if you just do desert tiles, cos of the way many of the maps spawn (e.g: Africa, Australia)

But why plains? That just lets you claim a little strip of plains next to your desert.
