Description
Island Size: Huge
Economic Difficulty: Hard
Political Difficulty: Medium
Victory Condition: Be The Emperor No One Can Forget
Starting Capital: 100,000 French Francs

There is an island somewhere there in one of our Earth’s oceans, once ruled by a king who became so good at his game that at last, one day, he had saved up one million. He was a good gamer king. Who built a wondrous palace out of stone. And who grew the most bountiful banana trees. But that one day, he - and his kingdom - vanished. When the French arrived to claim the island for their emperor, they named it after a king no one could remember: L'île de L'Empereur Oublié.

Objective: Break history’s spell. Build an empire from the old emperor’s island. Make your mark in history books by putting other famous people in their place: Christopher Columbus, Charles Darwin or Angela Merkel can’t hold a candle to you if you truly are great at your game. Compare yourself to these and other historic figures by completing at least twelve tasks over the course of time.
This scenario is paced differently than a vanilla Sandbox game. It’s set in a dreamy state that provides much time to explore a mythical island. Its inhabitants mean you no harm. They are glad you came to their island. But be watchful for the men sailing the seven seas. They are bad men, out hunting for treasure.
And do restart your reign over this island if the Crown wishes for you to build a wharf. It is a difficult first task to accomplish. Now, if you please--draw me a sheep!

If you played Tropico 5 for any amount of time, its soundtrack will be very familiar. This huge beautiful island can well be explored to a different tune. I posted previously my personal playlist I compiled while preparing this scenario. But since I don't own the rights to any of those recordings, and couldn't (legally) share them with you, what good does that truly do. So here's something good for free: http://v6.player.abacast.net/4
It's the best free classical radio station I know of. Give it a try if the tunes of Tropico are starting to feel a bit tired.

Shame to see you go back to a job after spending your time off so creatively! I'm sure everyone will miss you and your great maps.

That's it now. I've got only one thing left to do with Tropico 5. See if I can beat mwyeoh in his scenario. Til Tropico 6, so long!

I don't own the rights to the recordings (and none of them are in public domain yet). They are available on iTunes and such, but that didn't make my list very helpful. So I've replaced it with a link to a free streaming service. Best I know, with almost no talk. Hope this might be something you hadn't know about yet!

I've posted a few screenshots from my last full test game to the Screenshot section of the Workshop, if you are curious how this island can look developed, but don't want to play through it yourself. Search by L'île de L'Empereur Oublié.

To continue in the tradition of adding one random thought about the map that I started over at Buccaneer Bay: when you start out on L'île de L'Empereur Oublié, men had no earth-moving equipment. One was limited to what mother nature gave us. Farmers farmed fallow fields or gentle slopes. People traveled on nature trails they turned into roads over time. The map tries to simulate this. Study the topography very closely to determine what land is useful. Go underneath the thick tree canopy to find where the land falls off, or where to best tread your dirt trails. At the beginning, you are at the mercy of the landscape, just as 19th Century settlers were. Later, as you gain technologies and move inland, the map will - intentionally - feel flatter, and you will start to gain the upper hand in what the land looks like after you colonized it.

Very sorry to the early subscribers: I got sloppy with my build control, and uploaded a final test version of the map that had the final "Little Prince" win sequence disabled. The final, final version is now current as of May 20, 10:30pm Pacific. If you uploaded prior, refresh to make sure you get the chance to end the game on a high note. Literally. ;)

Also: CAUTION! There's an "Endless Combat" bug in the vanilla script, where you eliminate all rebel squads but the state of conflict continues forever. That prevents you from completing any additional military buildings, and prevents your squads from getting reinforced (so future rebel attacks will gradually wear them down until your Palace falls). That bug happens on huge Sandbox maps, and since this map is very, very huge, it has an increased chance of happening here at some point. It occured in 2 of my 5 full length test games. The ONLY remedy (I know of) is to go back to a prior save, restart, and provoke the rebels before they can initiate combat on their own. That way the random target selection of the vanilla script is likely to pick another set of targets than the ones that caused the glitch. So: SAVE OFTEN!

Could you please add links to the songs in your playlist? I was unable to find a few of them but the ones I could were great, nice to see someone else with a taste for contemporary classical. :)

Your contributions will be missed! You were a master craftsman and your islands were often beautiful
