Description
The Spectre Multi-Role Attack Craft is a light and cheap UFAC designed to serve as an all purpose attack craft. It runs entirely on Hydrogen and batteries so it's construction requires no Thruster Components or Reactors. It is currently the fastest ship in the Hyperion Systems fleet and can outrun virtually anything, including most contemporary small grid fighters. This speed allows it to evade guided missile scripts and it also has four decoys buried in the wings to help evade turrets. It's lightweight construction gives it decent operational range for a pure Hydrogen ship, even in 1g. The inclusion of a Hyperion Systems Ship Computer gives the Spectre improved performance without the addition of several large grid blocks, helping to reduce the overall size of the ship. The Spectre also features a limited Auto-Repair system to improve the resilience of it's rocket launchers but it's real defence is it's speed and will not last long if caught while stationary.

Ship Computer
This ship will work fine without it's computer, but it does help. In order to assist survival players, I will be releasing a Ship Computer A blueprint soon so you can install it in Survival via a Projector. This will require the use of a large rotor base with a small head, but if the rotor is safety locked it should be stable. I have tested it in transatlantic MP and did not incur the wrath of Clang.

Instructions
The range on this thing is surprisingly good, but you do have to manage your hydrogen. Turn dampeners off when at max speed to conserve fuel. Turn off braking thrusters [Toolbar 6] to cruise in gravity wells. When you want to go from planets to space, point the nose straight up and hit the Launch Assist timer [Toolbar 9] and the script will take you to space using the minimum necessary fuel.

For fighting ships larger than itself, use Missile Turrets. For fighting smaller ships, use Gatling Turrets.

Fly it like a fighter. Fly it like you stole it :D

Notes
This was designed to be a cheap general purpose fighting ship for survival. That is why it has no Jump Drive.

The Ship Computer is worth the aggro IMO. You gain Sequenced Rocket Launchers, Automatic Door and Liftoff Manager. Some Progammable Blocks are redundant. If anyone knows of any simple but useful scripts that work over multiple grids, please let me know

Scripts by Whiplash141. You can check out his awesome work here:

I try to make all my ships suitable for use in survival, if you use my ships and find a bug/problem, let me know.

"Fly it like you stole it." I'll do you one better, I'll actually steal one from my local Hyperion Systems shipyard! :steamhappy:

@vash Yes, i do have a multi environment corvette in the works, its called the Puma and it'll be available soon. Until Keen balance grav drive power consumption I consider them heresy. :)

@robotnik v Batteries may weigh more, but they are cheaper to build and run. Also, at 44m/s and 367t, the weight saving is hardly worth it. The wings contain decoys to draw fire from the pilot. With respect, with over 70 uploads, 2k playtime and over 1k followers, I think I know what I'm doing! :)

Batteries are only better then reactors when constructing small grids. When constructing large grids however, batteries supply less energy for more wieght then large grid small reactors. That and get rid of the wings, they look alright but they are causing the ship to loose a decent amount of acceleration. If you do that you should be able to push the acceleration up a couple of points. Besides that it's a good looking ship.

Have you ever thought about adding gravity drives to your ships?

I love your work the ships are all amazing looking and superbly functional, are you gonna make a multi role corvette (space and atmo) that would be amazing

Try TIM and Warship Manager. Work across many grids. Dead useful.

Great as always! Keep it up!

"...did not incur the wrath of Clang."
"Fly it like a fighter. Fly it like you stole it"
Doesn't get much better than that XD
Also, great design. I like the absence of reactors, it's an interesting twist.
