Cube Calculations

Description
Sometimes you need to go backwards in order to move forward. Cubes set the overarching theme for this map from start to finish. Be careful as you progress to the end, as you may have more need of cubes than seems apparent at first glance. Keep track of the symbols along buttons and crate/laser recepticles along the way as they will provide you with the biggest hints to your forward progression. Physics puzzles are abundant along with a healthy dose of light bridge jumping, laser, and timing puzzles.

Warning, this map is not for the faint of heart. This map was designed to give a challenge to even the experienced Portal 2 player. You can and probably will die multiple times on the light bridge jumping puzzle. The map is estimated at roughly 20-60 minutes to completion, based on how patient you are with exploring the chambers and understanding all the interlocking puzzles.

I created this map in a quick burst of madness the first day the mapping tools were released by Steam. I hope it drives you as crazy as the warped mind it has just come from. Enjoy the madness!

Glad you liked it! This map has definitely been one of the three I've made so far that has received the least attention. Perhaps the light bridge jumping is what gets to people who have tried it...it certainly is my least favorite part...and I designed the thing!

Really enjoyed this map, it was pretty much non-stop calculations in my head from start to finish. Well done!!

Things are working the way they should again and the original screenshot of the map has been put back into place. Hooray! Now if only I could get more people to visit this page and subscribe!

I cannot explain why, but Steam is showing the same map layout for this map as my other map, Shaft. I provided a screenshot of the map I took myself in the hopes that people will at least see that image on the map's main page and take it to know that this is a different and unique map not even close to the other. Hopefully Steam figures out what's going wrong with the published file and things will go back to the way they were before my last update went into effect.

13 Mb. It's pretty big. Orginally when I started using the tools to build this map I extended the surfaces to the whole 25x25 cube they allow. One I worked with the chambers to fill in the lower portion of the cube space roughly 6-10 tiles high depending on certain rooms, I figured the map had already begun to sprawl plenty enough, and that because I hit the object count limit, and that going further would have been impossible if not mind numbing. So this map uses roughly 25x10 as a grid space and comes out as a result to a whopping 13 Mb compared to smaller maps.

My apologies for making that more complicated than it should have. There were surfaces that were portalable in the blue goo room that I did not mean to give you access to. The room is meant to be locked until you open the way with the sphere. I have updated the map to make the said surfaces inaccessable and hope to convince you to try the map again knowing that you were origanlly not supposed to have access to the blue goo room immediately.
