PTEROIS CLASS CA/N-5

Description
A Multi-Purpose, easily modifiable (at least by my standards) Assault Cruiser. Built for the UESC #27 Contest. Designated the CA/N-5. I chose the name of Pterois which is in reference to the lionfish not only in terms of somewhat similar colors but also in it's poisonous nature. Multiple volleys of rocket launchers are loaded in the neck aft of the bridge, built to decimate defensive systems and flanking enemy vessels as well as cracking open hangar and blast doors. Contains a bay large enough to fit a small, heavily armored combat engineering drone equipped with a grinder. It is intended for the Pterois to soften the target and eliminate enemy defensive positions prior to the release of the drone, dubbed the SCARE-8/G.

It is also equipped with an armored decoy launch system aft of the missile volleys as well as self repairing decoy nodules inside the #1 and #4 nacelle along with backup ion propulsion systems. The Pterois is also capable of flying on 1G planets, but is not advisable. As such, there are no landing gear present on the Pterois. The Pterois is not designed for survival, but rather is designed for extended combat operations. It has a compact refinery/assembler setup to aid in repairs and exploration operations. The Pterois can also be readily modified, capable of having the main assault bay enlarged enough to accept a 5+1 man Heavy Dropship armed with rocket/gun pods or even small cruise missiles, as well as have the rocket volleys replaced with six cruise missiles as well as facilities to mass produce these missiles.

Or, you could gut out the entire space and use it as a heavily armored extra hangar, cargo storage, and it may even be possible to mount a large 4x6 or 4x8 torpedo. I have even successfully mounted massive shipkilling weapons on the piston in the main assault bay that is currently being used to retain the drone inside the bay just for the fun of it. The only unfortunate reality is the positioning of the bridge, which is why there are several separate stations capable of piloting the ship which are located in more armored confines. The bridge is where it is because of visibility concerns. It is assumed that the ship should be more than capable of defeating the selected foe with minimal losses due to the use of countermeasures as well as the pack of missile launchers as long as distance is maintained and the decoy launchers are active (Should be more than capable of operating from the specified contest distance of 300m though), otherwise there are not many heavily armored compartments outside of the most critical or structurally important locations in order to assist with maneuvering. I have clocked it going from 0m/s to 100m/s in 20 seconds using the main thrusters and for other directions it could take anywhere from 20-40 seconds.

This vessel requires ice to run at optimal levels, but is capable of subsisting on it's ion propulsion. The drone's weapon systems have no direct connection with the Pterois' conveyor grid and as such, must be manually loaded. I have also included a text panel on the bridge that defines what does what in the #1 and #2 bridge positions. There are also two buttons that are always active that startup and shutdown the LCDs, and there is also a small standing position that utilizes Xellon's LCD Panel switch to enable someone (ostensibly the commander) to access important ship data from all of two panels, plus a single damage control screen.

Note: Certain airlocks are locked in order to prevent accidental decompression. There are also two emergency exits located on the bridge which are also locked. The decoy launcher room is not pressurized nor must it be manned and as a result, is also locked.
