Panels! Assemble!

If you trip, let me know.

This map was made using Hammer from the Portal 2 Authoring Tools. You can find the Authoring Tools under the tools tab of your game library if you own Portal 2. It is still labeled a beta, but don't let that discourage you.

nice. I'd love to see this used in a puzzle map, maybe with the room deassembling and reassembling itself to make a new puzzle after the first... but just this is more than I can do right now, just been using the basic map builder for mine so far

Is this a demo?

Unless you light them in the map from all angles or use only dynamic lighting (or shadowing), no. Since Source handles dynamic lighting as well as a car does flood water, there is no good solution.

With Portal 2, projected textures were restricted to 1 per map. So, that isn't going to work either.

Nice level, Do you know of any way to fix the black surfaces created when a panel moves into the map? You mostly avoided the issue by having the walls start assembled, but it can be seen on the edges of the ledge that raises at the entrance (with you on it), if you hop off and look at the sides they are pitch black (due to being outside of the map when vrad was run). I am having the same problem, do you know of a solution?

thank you!

For the walls, I built instances for the panels to push out. Then put those in a bigger instance that slid up/down (a second instance was missing the lowest panel to allow the exit door). The ceiling was a couple func_movelinears with a "on stop moving" sound, if memory serves.

How do you make that automatic construction?
