Now that I think about it I could make the laser point down at the floor and the puzzle would instantly become 500x more elegant

The final move is not very elegant. It's a shame cause the rest of the puzzle plays so well.

I didn't have to do anything fast. I just placed the cube halfway through a pair of wall portals directing the laser where it had to go, then got on the elevator, placed the last portal, and the cube fell right into the funnel.

Oh come on! Is the intended solution really just to be fast? Ok, whatever, if the cube is right next to the portal where the laser comes from, aim skill isn't that much needed, because when I open a portal underneath the cube, it falls from the wall right next to where it was and into the same portal a second time. That gives me enough time to shoot the other portal near the exit button.

Great premise and layout anyway. The final move wasn't so disappointing when I think about it, so it is a no-less-than-9/10 puzzle.
