The Moon of Omicron is/was the center of Manufacturing for the Empyrion system. So it became the prime target. ZeroG was able to retreat from the moon but not without heavy losses.
The point I am trying to build up too is that ZeroG wants to regain control of the Moon once again. In order to do this we must have a fleet up and running and prepared for battle. This also means Ground troops need training grounds to prepare for. And with all the new recruits simulations have to be constantly ran to better be prepared for battle.
In a nutshell, ZeroG is preparing for a attack on thier former home the Moon of Omnicron. If you playing Empyrion in the early days you'll remember the 4 planets were all in the same "Zone". Akua, Omicron, Nigues and Astes. Then an update came around and finally moved all the planets into separate regions in game.
I'll keep it brief for now, but try to give a quick summary to my take on it. In ZeroG's universe, The reason that the planet are spread apart was an event simply known as the "Expanse". Its hard to not want to tell you the whole story but the Astens are the ones that developed the tech to make this event happen. Simply the Astens are the ones that carried this out.
