Look for large cylinders, They spawn in random areas of the map at the start of the round and have a purple glow.

Where might I find the "power source" for the traitor scan?

Well one obvious suggestion would be just to strip all the TTT related doors/triggers or entities what not, I can give more in-depth suggestions if you want, maybe take screenshots and stuff if necessary, not a whole lot needs to be done to it for it to go directly sandbox, the work would be in making it RP-compatible.
