Description
Those barren planets are great to build a homebase on.. not bothered by pesky monsters, or riddled with pre-rendered trees.

If it weren't for the fact that the blocks are all dry and you need to replace the dry dirt with normal dirt if you want to garden, or plant trees
There is no weather to water the plants for you, you better get real skilled with that watering can.
There is constant wind sounds and the background looks.. well, rather barren.

This mod fixes all that.
The sounds are replaced with garden sounds. Mud, dirt and cobblestone make up the planet now, and the backdrop is replaced with a lush landscape.
The weather is set to the same weather as the lush planets you start on.

This mod will not changed planets that have already been generated, it will only work on newly discovered planets.

1.1 update notes:

My barren worlds no longer replace the old barren worlds. They are now a new type of Barren, dubbed "Elysium" worlds.
There are three types of Elysium worlds around, all can be found around Gentle Stars.
There are Elysium Garden, Snow and Midnight worlds.

1.3 update notes:
made compatible with 1.3.2 (and presumably beyond)
added graphics for the planets

@halokid003 That's such a nitpick of a complaint. Of course it's different on the navigation map so you know which world is an Elysium world. It's a quality of life feature.

Also looking at most of the worlds added in this mod their navigation map picture is different from their orbiting picture which is different from what it looks like when you actually land sometimes. Not very immersive.

Upon downloading this mod I encountered an 'Elysium Volcanic' world. I thought this world only added the Elysium Barren worlds...what's the deal with that?

if you want to give it a shot, feel welcome to. The original mod (just zipped plaintext files) can be found at playstarbound.com . I myself no longer add features to this.

Is there a way to change the sounds back to the default? I like everything else the mod does except the change of sounds.

there's no longer any development done on this mod.. the no grass and shifted background is a known factor, it was a world added by request from the intro, if you want to build on it, build up until the background is proper. the spin i dont know about, might be a very tiny planet i guess?

I also found a borked Elysium Earth with super spin, no grass and an abnormally shifted background.

You should make it so normal barren planets are still able to spawn along with the new ones.
