Description
Meet the LR-SB

Inspired by the successes of the ELR-S, Eiselburg Industries has produced yet another Hybrid vessel, this time targetted at long range strike bombing missions. Mounted for Air to Air and Air to Ground combat the LR-SB is intended for space launch, atmospheric entry, bombing run then re-orbit. The LR-SB unlike it's predecessor should never need to touch down on a planetary surface for any purpose other than emergency repairs.

Features

The LR-SB is mounted with a hydrogen thruster package that has been proven to be capable of taking the ship from planetside to orbit without the need for drop tanks. Through careful adjustments to the output the vessel can acheive orbital flight with 10% excess fuel when launched at minimal weight, however due to the onboard ice to hydrogen/oxygen converters this excess can be increased further with a heavy load.

The LR-SB is also equipped for atmospheric flight with a VTOL package covering the forward, up and backwards flight directions. A secondary Ion Package is also included for vacuum flight thus allowing the vessel to consume minimal hydrogen fuel in long range flight.

Finally a new top of the line HUD has also been incorporated into the LR-SB to allow for damage control and power management. It should also be noted that the craft does not contain any open broadcast hardware and relys solely on the laser antenna for data relay, this is a deliberate feature to aid in the stealth properties of this craft.

Achieving Orbit

Orbit can be achieved through careful fuel management. Please be aware that the LR-SB is heavier than the ELR-S and as such a full tank of Ice and an empty payload is recommended for reliable orbital insertion. It has been demonstrated that it is possible to launch with a full paylod however highly recommended against.
1. First point as vertical as possible, then engage Atmospheric thrusters to Max override (Taskbar 3 > Option 1) and turn off Inertial Dampeners (Taskbar 2 > Option 4.
2. Next wait until speed begins to drop, at this point engage Hydrogen Thrust Override (Taskbar 3 > Option 3) increase this until speed and altitude start going back up.
3. Slowly throttle back by one decrement (Taskbar 3 > Option 4) each time speed maxes out.
4. When Atmospheric thusters show 0kn output disable Thrust override (Taskbar 3 > Option 2), at this point it is also appropriate to turn them off (Taskbar 2 > Option 1). At the same time Turn on the Ion Thruster if not already done (Taskbar 2 > Option 3) and engage at full Thrust Override (Taskbar 3 > Option 5).
5. Final Atmospheric exit should be entirely powered by Ion thrust, this is usually around 0.9G.

Re-entry

Assuming that there are no Speed mods installed just turning on inertial dampeners (Taskbar 2 > Option 4) and Atmospheric thrusters (Taskbar 2 > Option 1) should be sufficient to cushion the LR-SB on re-entry assuming re-entry is not performed over high terrain. If Speed Mods are installed Hydrogen Thrusters may also be required however safe re-entry is not guaranteed or tested above 100km/h.
