ISS Freedom 1

Description
This ship is based on the original Freedom 1, but is 10,000 tons lighter and roughly 20 blocks shorter than the original.

I was sufficiently bored so I finished this ship. =P Actually, it's not really done. The paradox is that even though this ship is dramatically smaller and lighter and more maneuverable and cheaper etc, than the original it doesn't have the stacks of internal thrusters so even after being shrunk it still has vast cavernous spaces that could be filled with, well I couldn't think of anything... Additionally, I opened up more areas of the ship including viewing decks on the top and bottom of the midship section.

I did my best with the lander, I really went crazy trying to find weight to remove, it went from 2,500 tons and ended up around 1,410 tons. Even though I shrunk the lander by several blocks in length and even two blocks in width in a few places, not to mention height, the act of mining out solid armor blocks left the interior rather cavernous.... The folk'sil, for example was solid armor in the original, and now it has two crew cabins and a common area. dunno. It colud benefit from a decorations mod but I decided to pass on that for this one.

Performance wise the lander is marginal (when empty) on Alien and can only make orbit when a speed mod is available. The basic mission profile is to fly to the target planet, de-couple the drive section and leave it on orbit as a space station (Background), then seend the expedition crew down in the bow section (Foreground).

It is a fairly realistic concept and thus makes a good counterpart to the ISS Assimov, already re-published.
