A-90 Orlyonok

The A-90 Orlyonok, or "Eaglet" in English, was developed by the Soviet Union as a military transport and ground assault vehicle, and was first produced in the 1970s. It's main source of propulsion came from a massive Kuznetzov NK-12 turboprop. This unique aircraft is an Ekranoplan, meaning that it never flew through the skies. Instead, it flew less than a few meters above flat surfaces on a cushion of air, called Ground Effect. This method of travel was much more efficient than other aircrafts of the time. Only 5 of this Ekranoplan were built, and the last one was decommissioned in 1993.
