Introduction
Hello all. Hopefully this guide will assist you in finding those achievements whilst trying to complete your contract. As a rather obvious note - MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. Oh, and some hints; the flashlight is your best friend ever. Have its beautiful light shining as often as possible, especially around enemies. Don't worry too much about running out of oil - you'll only really run out if you stand around and do nothing for awhile. And parries are a very useful tool (both sword and gun!) - get familiar with them. Blocking is also viable too, so don't keep your Bloodborne mentality from hampering you. Also, while it may seem like all the bosses are behind locked doors, there are always alternate routes. Random advice aside, let me know in the comments if you want me to include screenshots or other stuff. Now, let the guide commence!
Story-Related Achievements
There are five achievements you will get by following the progression of the story. They are as follows:

- Twins?
~ Subdued the 4th Knight

You get this one by beating the Fourth Knight, Saragat, in combat. He's tricky in that he dodge-teleports frequently, and once enough damage has been dealt, will summon clones (up to three). Of note, however, it that damage to each clone contributes to depleting the health bar. If the clones all stack up, hit with a heavy attack for hefty damage. He's located in the library of the Manor. He can be accessed through the lecture hall, which is through the rightmost courtyards at the center of the map. He is vulnerable to parrying when he's about to teleport.

- The Assassin
~ Subdued the 3rd Knight

This is for besting Hito, the Third Knight. He resides up on the roof at the very top of the Manor. He fights with two guns. Avoid the cross-hairs when he tries to snipe you by rolling, unless you enjoying having a chunk of your skull taken out. Also, he summons other enemies whilst sniping you, which can really ramp up the difficulty depending on what he spawns in. He's vulnerable to parrying when he is reloading. Overall, not too difficult a boss. Roll timings are pretty generous.

- Faithless One
~ Subdued the 2nd Knight

Now you must fight Grey, the Second Knight. He's residing in the church in the snowy garden area. He can block with his sword, summon black flame and lightning, and can dash towards you. He's vulnerable to parrying when doing his lightning attack. Take your time with this fight and manage your stamina and you should be fine. Also, that black fire looks intimidating, but it doesn't actually hurt that much at all. Feel free to set yourself on fire as much as you'd like.

- Goddess of Death
~ Subdued the 1st Knight

The First Knight, Len, guards the doors to the final boss. She resides north of the starting room, through the courtyard. She can be very difficult, as she dodges up into the air often, and summons a reaper to 1-hit kill you...or she used too. This attack was changed to simply lower your health to one, and if it's already at one, nothing happens. You youngins' never had it as rough as us who played at the start. Roll shortly after it has completely materialized (use the audio cues as well) and you should be safe. She is parryable when creating blue explosives.

- King No More
~ Unfit to rule. Doomed to repeat it.

Beat Guileford in the final boss fight. Beat all the Knights, advance pass the eye-gate in Len's boss arena, and you need merely advance north a bit before fighting him. He's not too difficult, although he can hit very hard, and is parryable when casting his blue-eye attack. However, he has a red-eye ability that summons a...thing that can heal him quite a bit, so smack the...thing around with your sword. Beat him and choose your ending! Which leads me to...
Ending Achievements
So there are four seperate endings in the game, each decided by two factors:

- whether you spare or kill the Knights.
- whether you spare or kill the King.

Sparing the boss is beating them in their boss battle, and then leaving the room. Killing the boss is when, after beating them, you continue attacking them until they fall over. For sparing Knights, you have to spare ALL OF THEM, or else it is considered a "kill" ending. Regardless of your action, you will still receive the flames they carry, which allow for story progression (and also stat enhancements for each main stat: health, stamina, damage, and injection quantity!)

- Ending A
~ True conclusion...

This ending has you spare all the Knights, but kill the King. Take back what was once yours! For war is coming...

- Ending B
~ Close to the truth

This ending involves TOTAL SLAUGHTER. Leave no boss alive. Did you have a vendetta or something? Was it the bloodlust, the hunt...?

- Ending C
~ Bad idea...

Show your inner saint and spare everyone. What were you thinking? Evidently you weren't. Guess you'll die for good this time.

- Ending D
~ Terrible Idea!

Here, you have to kill the Knights, but spare the King. In other words, completely fail your contract. Waltham is NOT pleased.

Each has different implications, but the ending credits remain the same for all of them it seems. With ominous hints of the future...

So with the story out of the way, all that's left is...
Optional Achievements
Here are all of the achievements that are not required for story progression:

- Brave or Foolish...
~ Not in the position to negotiate

Upon starting a new save, the intro cutscene asks whether you want to sign or refuse the contract Waltham offers you. If you choose to reject it, it's an instant game over and a shiny new achievement, which makes it totally worth it.

- No Escape
~ First time for everything...

While it's "optional", it's going to happen whether you like it or not. All you have to do is die. VERY easy to do, whether on purpose or by accident. Especially in New Game +, or a no-leveling run.

- Murder
~ Self defence...

This is rather simple. All you have to do is kill an enemy. While this is, strictly speaking, optional, most first-time players will not know that a pacifist playthrough is possible. You can circumvent most locked doors by taking alternate paths, and you don't need to kill the bosses to advance, but merely best them in combat in order to progress.

- The Truth
~ Nothing is ever free

This requires the use of the Dance Hall Key. This can be obtained from a Butler after the locked gate in Len's room. Interestingly enough, you just have to use the key. So, either use it to exit the bottom of the greenhouse below Len's room, or access the chained Dance Hall door above Waltham on the second floor.

- Endless Suffering
~ Challenge Accepted

After beating the game, you get the option to do New Game +. Select "Yes" to get the achievement. Just be wary that this choice is permanent and that the difficulty has been appropriately increased. You have been warned.

- Absolute Resolve
~ Congratulations, well done!

In order to get this one, beat (survive?) New Game +.

- New Perspective
~ Visions from the new world

This requires you to absolutely lose your mind. What does that mean? Upon every death, you see a watch slowly counting backwards. This is an indication of your sanity level. The watch starts at midnight, and minimum sanity is when the clock has looped back to 12 yet again. So how do we lose our mind? There are 3 main ways - dying, ripostes (stabbing something after a parry), and getting blessed by the priest outside the door just above Waltham. Dying will only get you so far before it is no longer helpful, however. The more you lose your mind, the more the game alters. Enemies become distorted and stronger, blobs appear, black eyes weep fire, the sky rains blood, and body bags appear out of nowhere. Spooky stuff.

- The Monolith
~ Harbinger of things to come...

The one optional boss in the game! First, you need very low sanity. After that, there are two entrance points: the first being the impossible geometry room, the second being the Sea of Beckoning at the very bottom of the catacombs, accessed through the servant elevator on the ground floor. The area you enter also has some big story implications as well. This boss is capable of high damage output, but is very manageable. It has a fast windup laser attack, and is the tankiest boss in the game. What do you expect, slashing at a stone-ish supercomputer? Your reward is something that negates the Death attack of Len, which will save some hair-ripping and controller-throwing on many people's parts.
Survival Mode Achievements
With the continued addition of patches has come some new content! The real draw beyond some bug fixes and combat changes is the recently introduced SURVIVAL MODE. This becomes unlocked by having one profile where you beat the game and got any ending. The gateways will be in your starting room with Waltham. For an onslaught of (mostly) generic enemies, talk to our dear friend Warne, the violinist (A.K.A. the composer of the soundtrack!). If you want to face certain death, enter the painting appropriately labeled "DIE". By entering the two survival sections in it and completely finishing each one, you get an achievement, as well as the satisfaction of beating these absurd gauntlets, and perhaps something more..... They are as follows:

- The Queen of Blood
~ May your bloodlust be satiated...

This achievement is for satisfying Warne's request to hear a song of blood. Want to test your sanity? Then face down 20 waves of foes (all preset arrangements). Mind you, this features all the Knights as well. The background is "Sanity Alley", which has some interesting little tidbits to it. Note that the next wave doesn't begin until you pick up all Vitae on the ground.

- The Madman
~ Had enough yet?

Remember those bosses that gave you a run for your money in the past? How about fighting two at once? Three? NOPE. Here you fight all six (including the optional boss!) at once! The Health bar, titled " The Final Goodbye", is split into six sections, which each reflect the remaining health of it's appropriate boss. As our dear Veimar, you might be rather hard pressed. Your reward? A pug. A pug that compliments you! A complimentary complimenting pug. Does it do anything? Take it to the other pug in the Manor for a fun little interaction!

And one final note. Having trouble? Then you either do LOTS of practice or grind for Yth Stones. Having EXTREME difficulty? The protagonist of Usurper may be able to lend a hand, or 50, if you catch the hint. There is also another guide you may want to refer to here:

Conclusion
That should be all the achievements in the game! If there are any errors, recommendations, or requests, please let me know!. But, regardless, thanks for the read. Now get out there and play this beautiful little game! And while you are at it, enjoy the sequels too!

Very helpful guide! I must say, much to my shame as an explorer, that I would never have found the basement or the Monolith without your help.
