Due to feedback and the need to upgrade ZeroG's aging fleet the newest version of Ferro is out! We have studied and learned from the past designs and have improved on the existing Ferro platform. Based on the reasearch Prescott has provided, we have started renewing our ZeroG platforms and ready ourselves to reclaim our Moon!.

Ferro-3 is purposed built to work directly with our upcoming Vasquez Heavy Frigate. A drop zone style hanger bay was built on board Vasquez just for Ferro-3. Be sure to check out Vasquez here very soon!

*Ferro* Primary use is for inserting and extracting troops in hot zones. Ferro-1 was solely built to help evactuate ZeroG's home Moon during the Expansion event. Ferro was proposed directly from Engineer Prescott and was the starting point to kickoff the ZeroG military fleet. Without Ferro units, ZeroG might not be here today. Many pilots gave thier lives in order to save others. Their sacrifice allows us to continue our survival and we shall continue to honor them with each Ferro model.
To this day Ferro's are still utilized in day to day activities. Mostly used for transports From ZeroG to Akua, but there are some that have been overhauled as cargo only models that some cargo captians have adapted. But even if it has been some time since Ferro units have been out of battle for sometime, they are still ready to deploy at a moments notice.
***During the Expansion Event lots of blueprints were thought lost and unrecoverable. Now since Lt. Johnston has made contact with Prescott, it has been confirmed that the Blueprints for the medical ship "Dietrich" have been recovered. Due to the slow date uploading time from Prescott to ZeroG, it will be quite some time before we can get this unit operatinal.***

Hey Great use of Red lighting in cabins to keep eyes dilated for night vision in space ! I found an additional ship maker with some models that might be useful for your goals.... https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=732349577

So Jenniphurr I have an idea and here's the story. I was playing with a friend and we had a single Viper between us to use. He went ahead and made a passenger seat and while I'm trying to figure out where to put it and look good he strolls up and plops it right on the cockpit. UGLY! but I went along with it. Well I found out that its a pretty cool perspective as a passenger in 1st person view haha. That gave me the idea to put a glass floor in the Ferro-3. That was cool as hell too for the passengers. My idea is maybe we can expect an all glass (or at least the passenger cabin) Ferro-G maybe? :D

Very unique design. subbed!
Its missing combat elements but it looks to be used only for shuttle purposes.

I've spent several days revamping this ship to be more combat ready, replacing much of the ship with hardened steel, revamping the way the cockpit opens up to the sky and a number of other things changed. For the most part, my version is more or less just a more combat ready version than this with more fuel containers, two fridges, more RCS, and a fair bit more armor. Kept the same color scheme. Ill be posting my version with your permission, and with credit to you of course. But before I do, i wanted to know if you had any qualms about me naming it the Ferro-3 (2.0). Or maybe the Ferro - 3.5?

@Umopepisdn Ya the earlier Ferro's I used the older cockpits and was more of a hassle to get in and out of. Due to the size of the new open cockpit i can't move the seat close as I hoped, but I mostly fly in 3rd person. For precise flying I use the "alt" key to more the camera around. Sounds cumbersome but once I got used to it there was no going back.

To be honest I am working on sprucing up the cockpit to make it less flat looking but haven't settle on a design yet.

Ferro is my drop ship more than anything. I tend to role play my worlds and use specfic ships for certian tasks. POI' raiding with people, Ferro is the go to vessel.

Oh and the Frigde this was an oversight, and since you asked i'll equip it with one~ Thanks agian!

Also, I added a fridge, and was surprised there wasn't one tucked away somewhere. Last suggestion: more fuel tanks and fewer oxygen tanks. This one is a bit of a gas guzzler and seems to need more frequent refueling than other SV of its size.

The Ferro 3 is a nice looking ship that handles well, but has a number of design characteristics that make it frustrating for use as a general transport.

First and foremost: the cockpit is a nightmare. It's got room for two at the helm and this forces a severe compromise in visibility.
Additionally, the cockpit is at the end of a long hallway, as far from the entrance of the ship as possible. These two factors, along with the limited space, conspire to annoy with every landing because it is impossible to fly the ship in first person view, but impossible to see where you're going and exit it successfully in third person view. This seems like perversity for perversity's sake: the cockpit is exposed to the exterior, so this long walk with each landing feels entirely unnecessary.

All in all, this ship is fun to fly, and handles well (with the exception of rolling, which is sluggish), but shows some rough spots when pressed into active service.

@Vertiago Ironsides More like small ships gone wild! Also I would welcome what you think of Ferro when you take it for a spin~ Thanks for stopping by!
