Description
A simple graphics mod that changes the way archeology sites appear across the world. While normal and hidden archeology sites already differ in the resource icons they use, this mod is meant to extend their visible differences to include the way archeological sites appear on the map itself.

-Recolors the 3D art for Hidden Archeology Sites to appear distinct from their normal counterparts.


Over the past ~3 years since I last published a mod, I've constantly found it difficult to try to keep track of which archeology sites are normal and which are hidden, especially across very large maps. While the two flavors do differ in their 2D resource icons, I prefer not to play with these icons on since I find they can clutter the map. Eventually (while playing around with resource and improvement graphics for other mods-in-progress) I realized it was actually relatively straightforward to just assign hidden sites their own unique appearance.

With this mod, normal archeology sites use the same 3D art that we're all used to (light stone, red pots). Only hidden sites have been changed (dark stone, green pots), using a color scheme based on their funkadelic 2D icon.

As this mod makes only aesthetic changes, it is not set to affect saved games. This means that it can be used immediately with existing saves, while games saved whilst using this mod can be used later with or without the mod.

@nobubblegums: Thanks for reaching out! Glad to hear that people still find this tweak to be helpful. I'd be pleased to lend this mod to Vox Populi, so feel free to move ahead with integration. Everything that one would need should be in the downloaded files (mesh, textures, SQL) and it should be fairly trivial to integrate, but let me know if there's anything else from my end that would be helpful.

@Calypso this is such a great QoL tweak, thanks! I'm a contributor on Vox Populi (Formerly Community Balance Patch), which is a non-profit (never asked money nor donations/patreon, never will) community project, many people worked on it or provided modmods for integration. It's pretty much an expansion pack rather than a mod now, and we'd love to integrate this if it's okay with you (full credits will be given of course).

This is an outstandingly minor issue, but the name of the mod in my MODS folder keeps getting changed to the mod ID instead of its human-readable name. Anybody know how to fix?

Artwork looks fantastic! Not too many people can actually work with these tools to produce such a fine result!

One suggestion: could you somehow "do something!" that makes it easier to find these sites? Maybe some bizarre color background on the Strategic View? I always seem to have trouble finding those last 2-3 sites towards the end of the game.

Just a thought. Keep up the good work!!!
