Will there be a simple patch that allows this mod to also replace the Hunter model for the L4D1 campaigns?

you can now get an add-on to this mod which replaces the l4d1 hunter.

I dont think the infector flood suitble to replace the hunter,SPV3`s flood jackal is better

You may have to VALIDATE your L4d2 files. Ths fixes the problem 99.9% of the time.

I'm having issues with this mod. It causes the game to crash.

Perhaps you need to VALIDATE your L4D2 files via Steam. This fixes the problem 99.9% of the time.
