Yolei's Marauders faction (game start)

Description
NOTICE: Given I've been completely inactive for years this may be obvious, but I am completely done with Kenshi modding. All of my mods are up for grabs to improve or use the assets of if you feel so inclined. I am not an artist or an animator and lack the talent or interest to continue to work on Kenshi projects. My apologies.
--------------
There was once a notorious outlaw by the name of Bao Yolei. He was known for standing out amongst his peers for his wicked cunning and skill with coin, in addition to his martial prowess. But even his skills wouldn't save him forever, and he was eventually captured. After a ten year stay in prison for his numerous crimes, he came out a changed man.

Supposedly.

What people do know is that when he was released, he sent some messages to "old friends" and slowly built up a loyal group of people. After a few years, he officially registered himself as the owner of the mercenary company known as Yolei's Marauders, and proceded to grow into one of the most ruthless contractors in the known world.
---------------
The flag of Yolei's Marauders is an orange flame floating in the center of a grey background.
---------------
Yolei's Marauders, over the years, have become synonymous with burning towns and piles of corpses. They'll happily do any deed if offered the right sum, from torching villages to charging into battle alongside regulars. Of course, considering that so few mercenary companies have such low standards, they are often hired to do the former. Rumor has it that they aren't even particularly picky about the client so long as the money is good, and have been known to do jobs for the Black Dragons and the more organized Dust Bandit clans. Whoever the employer, the Marauders are most often used to intimidate the peasantry, silence opposition, assassinate rivals, raid villages, and other forms of borderline banditry. Indeed, the only thing separating them from common brigands is the fact that their actions are legally sponsored by whoever is holding the purse strings, and even then that isn't always true.
-----------------------------
Yolei's Marauders have a very simple philosphy when it comes to combat: Throw troops at it. If it isn't working, add more. The company is never lacking in soldiers, as many many people join their ranks out of greed, desperation, or simply a desire to inflict violence. It is rumored that Bao Yolei actively recruits from bandit gangs as well, netting him a steady stream of experienced fighters. There are several types of Marauder forces one may see in the world.

Recruits are the main component of the Marauders. They are lightly armored and receive little training, and are only armed with a simple iron club, as it is incredibly easy to instruct a recruit in its use. These men are thrown in great numbers at the enemy, The majority are made up of ex-bandits and peasantry either desperate to move up in the world or borderline slaves who were threatened to join up.

Marauders, named after the organization itself, are the face of the organization. Recognizeable for their long black dustcoats and massive iron clubs, they inspire fear in all those who they pass by. While they might not look particularly tough, don't underestimate them. Hidden under the coat is a chainmail vest, and many a foe has landed what they thought was a fatal blow, only for it to be shrugged off like it was nothing. While often deployed in squads alongside masses of Recruits, they can also be found solo or in small teams, often targeting a specific person or group. People who repeatedly protest or get in the way of Bao Yolei's company will often find themselves with a bashed in skull in the dead of night. They have also gained a notorious reputation as sword-breakers, using their massive clubs to break an enemy's weapon and then beat the helpless foe to death.

Leading these groups are the Daimyos. Daiymos are recruited from the rare Marauders that show some kind of intelligence beyond the criminal cunning so prevalent with their kind. Equipped with chain under-armor and a tough leather suit, along with a massive sharpened club, these brutal tacticians are the hands of Bao, and do their best to ensure that his orders are followed out by making an example of anyone foolish enough to disobey.
--------
Trivia:

The Marauders are, as you may have guessed, known for dishonorable tactics and underhanded dealing. They'd rather win a fight by torching a camp's supplies in the dead of night than win head on, and if they do intend to fight directly expect them to outnumber you twice over. If you intend to employ these reprobates, make sure to count your fingers after you finish shaking hands.

Bao Yolei lives somewhere in the Empire, although no one quite knows where. It is believed he moves between homes every so often so he can't be tracked down.

It is rumored that the Marauders have some hands in the drug industry, although nothing has been conclusively linked to them.
----------
Things I want to do

-Make Yolei's Marauders a full faction and insert them into the game world.

-Have them spawn in camps like bandits do, but still function as a unified entity. Also, create around three small, permanent forts around the map.

-Put Bao Yolei into the world and have him travel from town to town in the Empire (when it comes out.)

-Make it so if Bao Yolei is killed, the enforcers in charge of the permanent forts all declare independence and become their own factions, fighting each other as well as other groups

-When crossbows come out, have recruits come equipped with them. The Marauders are dishonorable so they'd have no issue with killing samurai and the like with a volley of bolts.

-give the player the ability to build something that lets them recruit Marauder troops if they are on good terms with the faction and can afford it.

If you like this mod, try checking out the Rukori Group and the Fellowship of Eralt, two other mercenary factions available on the steam workshop.

Right now I'm focused on my other mods but I think that after kenshi hits 1.0 I will take all my mercenary starts and turn them into a single mercenary overhaul. Its definitely on my list.

Do you plan on updating the mod. Just out of curiousity.

How many marauders do you start with?
Squamousness  [author] 4 Dec, 2016 @ 2:17pm
I did, its pretty much just a game start as specified. But where's the fun in that? I like to write, is all.

No offence, but wouldn't it be simpler to just tell us what this mod does ?
